I thought it was time we get this thread going! We may not have as many supporters as the other teams which have threads here, but we’re definitely just as good if not better than some of them!

I’ll try my best to keep this thread as up-to-date as possible and hopefully give it a bit more glamour by adding some pictures and whatnot.

Viola Youth Movement

The seedlings are growing. With the requisite calm. Without the pressure of being thrown to the wolves in situations where the team is reliant upon them. With sound judgment and patience. The clutch of young men who arrived in Firenze last season are steadily working to make space for themselves. Osvaldo, Vanden Borre, Kuzmanovic, Lupoli, Hable, Mazuch and so on. All are preparing to play an important role, sooner or later, in Fiorentina's future.

Kuzmanovic

He is the symbol of the Viola youth project. The 20-year-old is becoming a regular in the Viola tactical schemes due to his strength and character and is evolving into one of the most important components of Fiorentina's plan. Last season he was used only sparingly, similar to how Montolivo was used two seasons ago. Now he sometimes starts, even in important matches. Despite some errors that are expected due to his youth, he has shown great ability and the kind of potential to make the home fans hopeful.

Osvaldo
The big surprise. Made his debut with a bang at Livorno, scoring two fine goals. Since then some muscular problems have kept him from playing in the following matches. Prandelli is known to rate the Argentine attacker very highly and the fact that he chose to start him in an important away derby (an out of character move for Prandelli) is clear evidence of that. The youngster smashed his way into the side with the magical number 9 on his back.

Vanden Borre

Just a taste in one match, in a surprising role, against none other than Juventus. At this time it is too early to judge him, obviously. He still must learn to defend, as Prandelli has admitted, but the Belgian wingback is immensely talented and there are many in Firenze ready to bet on young Anthony having a very bright future.

Lupoli

The Italian U-21 attacker's situation is a delicate one. He has been unable to find space in the first team with so many players ahead of him in the pecking order. He seems a bit frustrated that he has been unable to show off his great potential but he also seems determined to struggle through and make his mark.

Mazuch

Corvino has said it in clear terms, "he will be the next one to break through." He has an imposing physique for an 18-year-old. His positioning is spot on and the staff of the Viola youth sector continues to heap praise on him. Could it be that, in Mazuch, Fiorentina has already landed their highly-sought-after central defender?

Hable

He is slight of frame but possesses great tactical instincts. Still, he has a long way to go to prepare his body for the physical rigors of the game. The simple fact that Fiorentina battled with two great clubs like Inter and Celtic to get him shows that the player has all the makings of becoming a great champion. He has plenty of time to grow and improve and with a teacher like Prandelli, so adept at raising the youth players, he can rest easy.

Fiorentina is much appreciated in my hometown, because the colours of FCU Poli Timisoara are the same as Fiorentina's and the ULTRAS of the 2 teams are quite in good relationships.

We also played a friendly this summer, 1-1. :p

Oh, and Mutu. (Y) :D

Yeah Rui and Nuno had quite a big influence on me liking them as well. During the turn of the century was when I watched my first game at Florence, and both of them were playing. Legends!

Yeah. He still is! I know he’s doing very well at Bayern. I was very sad to see him go but I think it’s a similar situation to what Arsenal has gone through. Henry left them, Toni left us, and all of the players from each team have taken on more responsibility. Toni is a legend, but the quicker we move forward the better.

doesn't the F in ACF stand for Fiorentina? if so, isn't it a bit retarded for the club to be called ACF Fiorentina instead of AC Fiorentina?
just wondering...

anyway, I've always sympathized with Fiorentina too so I hope they have a good season (Y)

That’s correct. It’s because in 2002 we went into administration as “AC Fiorentina” so we had to rename it. They chose “ACF Fiorentina”. It’s not so bad though as 90% of people just know us as Fiorentina, but I see where your coming from. ;)

Yeah I think Prandelli has had a big part to play in our attractive Football. He’s brought in some promising young players as well who will hopefully play the same.

Mutu really has shined so far this season. I’m happy for him because he’s had a hard time and everything is finally going well for him!

Real Madrid offers €20M to Fiorentina for Mutu.

According the internet site Sport.ES, Real Madrid have made an offer of €20M to Fiorentina for Adrian Mutu. The report goes on to say that the Spanish club has offered the player a contract of €5M per year.

Mutu: I'm happy and I will not be leaving Firenze!

Following his national side's win over Holland, Adrian Mutu took questions from Romanian reporters. Besides the match he was also asked about the interest being shown in him by Chelsea, Manchester City and the latest reports that Real Madrid has offered €20M to Fiorentina and €5M per year to Mutu.

The Viola phenom declared, "I have managed to accomplish the same thing with Fiorentina as I have been able to do with the Romanian National Team, I have become part of a family I really enjoy. I am very fond of the squad, the city and the environment. I'm happy and I'm not going anywhere."

Viola A.D. Sandro Mencucci, on Sfida Viola, proclaimed both Mutu and Frey as not transferable.

i think it would be a big mistake to transfer to a big club, he`s in real form at fiorentina and moving to a big club i think would decrease his form and maybe stay on the bench ..

I agree. I think Mutu will reach his absolute peak at Fiorentina, and really doesn’t need to go to a club like Madrid where he will not be guaranteed a first team spot, even if he plays very well. Look at Owen, he played well and they sold him… Plus Van the Man has cemented his position there.

Unlucky to have that calciopoli penalty last season, as without the deduction they wouldve pipped Milan and Lazio to third place and CL spot (and i think Toni wouldve stayed for at least one more season),,, not that i have to remind any Viola fans ;)

I really like Fiorentina's current youth project in place,, but hopefully they can keep hold of Prandelli as I have a feeling when the big 4 search for new coaches eventually, he'll be at the top of the list.

As the only Italian side who didnt totally embarass themselves in the Uefa Cup, i hope to see a QF spot, as it is definitely reachable...

Pazzini isnt the man to fill Toni's boots. I still think they shouldve signed a sure fire replacement as Mutu's role as creator will suffer as he will have to score all the goals now.

That's very true, the two Fiorentina matches that I've seen this season Mutu started off in the first half in a creator position but had to move up front in the second half because the strike force wasn't doing their job. He scored in both matches in the second half.
