If my sources are correct, Lugano to Milan was sealed when Leonardo was in Brazil for Kaká's wedding, which Lugano attended. The deal is done for January. I hope it really is. Looks like a great prospect. But if anything, dont get your hopes up too high :(

About Simunic, I read he is a great header of the ball, the best in the Bundesliga. I wouldnt mind him at all for free but €12m? :|

Anyways, I read somewhere that a player that played in the UEFA Cup is NOT cup-tied for the Champions League. Is that true?

Alot of hockey players might be in the running: Federov, Ovechkin, Khabibulin, Kovalchuck (to say nothing of all the gymnasts, decathletes, or winter sports people about whom i know nothing) but I guess in the football world his closest rival would be someone like Smertin...and there I can see your point

Not that I care about hockey... at all. I'm just trying to get TBB to reply to this post.

Latest rumours say that we will extend our option for Torres by giving Atletico Madrid Vieri this month and Torres will be ours by 2008.

Other than the £20m they owe us, this rumour is further strengthened by the fact that Galliani said "Chelsea? Oh, they won't get Torres" when Chelsea were heavily linked with him. It's kinda odd that Galliani answered a question like that, eh?

Milan have also opened up a youth camp in Brazil. Thats a smart thing to do. Other than the obvious fact they are looking for youth talent, they get to help the poor Brazillians who are great at football. (Y)

In the spanish media, they say Torres can be a Milan player as soon as the end of the month.

They do say that if Torres doesn't come this season he will be a milan player this summer, so that 2008 seems to far away, of course i'm only saying what i have read in the spanish media.

I know that. But we cannot stereotype.

Since when do good goalkeepers come from Brazil and Ukrainian players do well.. anywhere?

I really hope Torres doesn't go to Milan.

I don't think he'll play over Gilagol and certainly not over Shevchenko.

Alberto Gilardino Press Conference

MILANELLO - Alberto Gilardino was the star of the show during the afternoon press conference at the training centre in Carnago. The Rossoneri striker spoke about facing his former side Parma amongst other themes as well as taking a look ahead to the World Cup finals. Here is what he had to say.

2005: It ended wonderfully for me. I did well with Parma where I grew as a player and a person. Then that beautiful moment finished and another foundamental moment in my career arrived: I joined Milan, a club I have always dreamt of playing for and now wearing the shirt I understand what an honour it is.

MILAN-PARMA: The new year starts with an important league encounter. It’s very special for me. I cannot think about facing the side I grew up in, in which I hold with a lot of affection and where I found a great coach like Cesar Prandelli who turned me into a great striker. Now, I can only think about Milan but on Sunday evening I will salute those who have been close to me in the recent past and do my duty to do well for the Rossoneri. Will I celebrate if I score? I can’t forget my former team-mates and the affection I have for the Parma and the Gialloblu environment. It’s natural and instinctive to celebrate when you score but I can’t see why I have to eliminate this joy.

THE CHAMPIONSHIP: I, along with all my team-mates, believe we can catch Juventus. We don’t in any way feel inferior to the Bianconeri. This is a great group of players who can be counted upon, so from now to the end of the season it is not impossible to catch up.

THE EXPERIENCE AT MILAN: After settling in I knew what coach Ancelotti expected of me. My understanding with Sheva and Kakà is improving game by game. As for Vieri, I have found him relaxed. Like me when he decided to come to Milan he knew that some things would be difficult. When you come to a club like this you have to do everything to find space to play. I am doing this, I give my all in training and work consistently. I am certain this pay dividends. What would I do if I was in his place? Everyone lives it in their own way so I can’t answer for him. He’s a friend and I hope he stays at Milan because he along with Inzaghi and Sheva have great experience and they have helped me settle in. They have always given me advice even though they always want to play.

RELATIONSHIP WITH TONI AND THE WORLD CUP: I get on really well with Luca. Prandelli has helped him a lot. I can’t say if I am strong than him or not but we know that we can be two strikers in the national side. Our thoughts are on the World Cup and getting to the final. What about the trio of Adriano-Kakà-Ronaldinho? Well, I think me, Toni and Totti form an important attack and I hope we can measure ourselves against Brazil to say which has the strongest side behind them.

CASSANO: I am pleased for him and I think he will definitely do well at Madrid. It was better to go there than Inter where we would have fitted in with Mancini, it’s better to have one less opponent.
