I've been through it. I know how much it hurts when you are looking forward to the next season and the career mode refuses to even budge beyond a certain date. Sometimes it just crashes to the desktop when you are just about to sign Varane for the amount you promised when you got him as a loanee . Its a shame that EA themselves could not find a solution to the freeze issue. So I decided to investigate on my own and for myself at least I figured out how to un-freeze the career mode. This solution will only work for Pc users. I'm not sure if there is a way to apply it to a ps3 or an xbox. Before I go on, if you are one of the paranoid ones who would not mess around with any of Fifa's internal files this solution is not for you.
Download this archive - http://www.sendspace.com/file/s3fpjz ( sorry if this is illegal. Not sure)
Install both the applications that are in the archive. You should have a - BH editor , and a File master + two registry files.
Apply the registry file - FIFA 12 64 Bit(working for FM12)
Open the second reg file ( named - FIFA(for BHeditor) in notepad. Change the line after " Install Dir" to the path where your fifa 13 is installed. Now apply this reg too.
Now both your tools should be working fine.
Run File master 12. Expand the File Data1.big in it. When it opens scroll down to the bottom . You want to get to this - \dlc\dlc_FootballCompEng\dlc\FootballCompEng\data\cmsettings.ini
select this file and export it to the main Fifa 13 folder. Now you should see a new folder created in your Fifa 13 directory - DFIFA 13\Game\dlc\dlc_FootballCompEng\dlc\FootballCompEng\data . The file cmsettings.ini should be there. Open this file ( notepad++ preffered).
You should see a lot of options listed under "[CAREERMODE_MANAGERS]" . What we want to do now is disable certain options. ( 1 means enabled, 0 means disabled) . Just change the "loans" and "internationals" fields to 0. This means that the part of Fifa that deals with Loans and International would not be started when you enter CM.
Now the last step we want to do is make Fifa 13 read from the cmsettings.ini file we extracted out and not from the one in the Data1.big file.
Open FHL BH-editor. Go to Data1.big. and now click the tab that says 'regen selected Bh file ( take care of external files)'. Once that is done , just make sure that the file cmsetting.ini is unticked. An unticked file means that Fifa 13 will look for it in external folders instead of in the BIG file.
Thats all. Now run you career mode. It should go smoothly past the date it earliet got stuck one. Stop the simulation immediately.and save your game. Now go back to the cmsettings.ini file in you fifa 13 directory. Undo the changes you had done to the file. i.e enable loans and internationals again.
If by any chance it still freezes. Try enabling/disabling other options listed.
OPTIONAL: You can go into the BH editor and tick the cmsettings.ini file to , revert back you game to the 'mint' state if you do not like the minor change we had done to the game.
Alternative and complementary solutions:
1. Put any loanee into the reserves ( not subs) before you sim further.
2. Sim through calender and see if that works.
3. Release some players and lighten up your squad.
I have had all types of CM freezes. This solved all of them for me. Hope it works for you too.
