A question regarding graphic design- for Shinji, Philler or any graphic expert . . .

Hi guys. I was wondering if anyone knew how to create those curved edges of website templates. Some websites have this on the top edges of their main logos, and I wondering if it could be implemented at http://www.soccer-views.com/cm_insight.shtml with Adobe Photoshop.

I have a method myself, but I feel there are other better ones out there.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers.

Do you mean rounded edges at the top, that's pretty easy. Maybe you've got an example to make it easier to help you out (in my case anyway:p )

Yeah Philler you hit the nail on the head, thats what I was talking about. :) I know it looks easy...but believe it or not..I can never get it done right.

I'll surf around to see if I can find a sample to post.

:)

well, curves in photoshop are best done with the pen too because that gives you the most control, but if it's just a rounded rectangle shape you want, then that can be done using the rectangle and circle marquee tools together.

or...you can just make the shape in fireworks using the rounded rectangle tool, then you'll be guarenteed to get nice smooth corners. you can even control to roundness of them.

an example would be good though.

Ok, here's the explanation on how to make rounded borders...I make them like this:
In Photoshop make an image (of the size you need), then use the RECTANGLE marquee tool and make a selection, go to SELECT>SMOOTH and enter a number (I can't tell you wich number you should enter, as it depends of the size of the marquee).
Create a new layer and then fill-in the selection with the colour you want, make all the changes you want (bevels, or move the layer), and save it for example as (the example is based on the right-top border and also based on the 4 borders of the table: right-top, left-top, right-bottom, left-bottom): right-top.jpg (or gif, or PNG, as you want)... then go to TRANSFORM>FLIP HORIZONTALLY and save it as left-top.jpg, again, once saved it, go to TRANSFORM>FLIP VERTICALLY and save it as left-bottom.jpg finally and again, go to TRANSFORM>FLIP HORIZONTALLY and save it as right-bottom.jpg.
Now in your favourite Websites editor (I use Dreamweaver MX) create a table with 9 cells and take a look at this:

X I X
I I I
X I X

I= NOTHING/TEXT
X= Image (left-top.jpg/right-top.jpg, etc, etc).
What are the 9 cells for?
Simple... the first 3 cells (horizontally-speaking) are for:
LEFT-TOP.jpg - CONTENT - RIGHT-TOP.jpg
the second group of 3 cells are for:
NOTHING - CONTENT - NOTHING
and the last group of 3 cells are for:
LEFT-BOTTOM.jpg - CONTENT - RIGHT-BOTTOM.jpg

It's quite simple... anyway if you still don't understand tell me, and I'll attach an image with a screenshot :D

See ya!
