A historical game...

Fu*k I'm screwed, I took Rome and eliminated the Senate, and now I got the two other Roman tribes, the Scipii and Brutii, on my ass. :(

Dragan, your thread about this game has finally convinced me. Hopefully it will live up to the hype when I play it.

Hyun, you tried the game yet? What do you think? (H)

Anyways, those damn Rebels came up again.....not my problem though (H)

P.S.: Notice the difference in the size of the red (my) territory from my earlier screenshot here, and this one. I successfully took Rome, and chased the other two Roman tribes off of the Latin peninsula. The goal of the game is to take Rome and conquer 50 territories, and I have Rome, and I'm 1 territory short of victory. (H)

I don't dare to attack the senate although I've conquerred 40 territories.

Is there anything you can do against the damn Rebels? :(

What type of rebels Vince? The small armies that come up outside of your cities, or did you lose a city to rebels? If it's a city, then just lay siege to it, or if you have onagers, a direct assault is easy.

Small rebel armies outside your cities, are usualy small and easy to beat. Just take a small group of soldiers, and attack. If you're sure you can get him back to the city in the same turn, or avoid rioting, then send a general from a city along with you army, it will sometimes increase his command trait, which is always good. (Y)

About taking Rome: Make sure that the cities you have that are close to the two rival Roman tribes, are well fortified, and create diplomats and take them outside of the city and BRIBE armies from your Roman rivals. It's a great way of counter-attacking, since you leave your cities fortified, and use your enemy's own armies against him. (H)

Yeah it's just these small rebel armies outisde my cities. I know they are not hard to beat, but they always pop up out of nowhere. That makes it annoying.

I've just attacked and successfully destroyed the Senate. I thought they had a much larger army than ~600.

The Scipii are not a problem for me yet because they most parts of their army located in North Africa, but the Brutii really give me a hard fight. I've conquered their cities in the south of Italy but won't stop attacking my east provinces with lots of small armies.

It's a good idea to bribe some of them, will try it.

Yeah well, each city has about 20 slots for army groups, and Rome is no different...I conquered it on "auto resolve", like most of my battles :D

Pretty much the same for me, the Scipii were tied up with the Egyptians in Africa, and after I conquered Capua from them (their original capital territory on the Latin peninsula), they pretty much only troubled me in naval battles.

As for the Brutii, they obviously caused me more trouble, since their assignments from the Senate end up giving them a foothold on Eastern Europe. When I started the rebellion, they pretty much owned all of what you know today as the former Yugo countries, Greece, Albania, Romania and Bulgaria. I actually just finished my game with the Julii, and at that point they had 2 territores in the souther part of Greece, and 2-3 in a further part of East Europe.

It's a shame you can't continue the game after achieving the goal (50 territories and Emperor of Rome), but I was rewarded with the ability to play other campaigns as the Egyptians, the Parthians and the Seleucids, which was weird, because I hadn't eliminated them in the campaign, and I read somewhere that you can only unlock other tribes by eliminating them (like I did with the Brits, Gauls and Germans).

Anyways, I just started a second campaign, with my favourite ancient civilization; Egypt. I set both difficulty levels on medium this time (unlike my first try with Julii, where both were on "easy") so it should be quite a challenge.

Woohoo finished. The end was a bit frustrating. After 20+ hours you're getting some plain text and that's it uh :(

This game was fun as hell. Next time I will try the Germans. Beware Britons. (H)

hahahah :D WTF?! Flaming pigs?! (H)

And Toon Army:

Yeah, that was my usual (and may I say, pretty effective) strategy against "barbarian", that is to say gaul, briton, spanish and german, cities that didn't have stone walls. First I bomb the gate, then perhaps two of the closest towers, then switch on flaming ammo, and sit back for a while, while the onagers flame their asses. It would usually kill off anywhere between 3% and 10% of the enemy's forces, before I sent in my cavalry, or infantry, while having Hastati and archers shoot away from outside the gates.

Mind you, the onagers are usually no good on troops inside a city with stone walls, since they're usually too high.

But that brings up another option: Siege towers!!! (H) :rockman:

Oh and Vince, tried encountering "Screeching Women" whil fighting the Germans? :|.....Damn your ancestors were (are) weird. :crazyboy:
