One of the best things about this Fifa is player attributes carry onto the pitch. I just ran through with Eto from the half way line on a lucky break. Not one defender caught him, infact Eto actually pulled away from them. Never have I seen that on a football game.

Just did an overhead kick with Messi, was superb. Ronaldinho pulled the ball back and with the right analog stick I had Messi infront of the ball, so he went airborne. OK, so the shot was mistimed and went back towards my goal, but was amazing to see!

It feels so empty, no, basic is a better word.

The ball physics are very realistic, movements seem fluid, but the graphics look like the inside of a taco bell garbage container and the tricks... no tricks? What the hell?

Don't get me wrong, I know football isn't about doing all kinds of circus tricks, but you should have a choice whether or not to do an elastico or step over. In the current gen version, the tricks are effective and add something to the game without making it look fake.

I feel like when I start a match, all I'll be able to do is walk, pass and shoot. Nothing wrong with that and it looks great and very real, but to me this isn't worth my 60 euros. Especialy not when I will probably have to pay extra for the additional leagues that are said to be released on the Marketplace.

Another thing that bugged me is that I like to press with my defense and I can't seem to select any defender when he's more than 4 meters away from the charging opponent.

If this demo is representative for the full game, I think I'll wait untill it's in the discount aisle.

Good point.

Honestly I feel this is where the FIFA series has always had the leg up on the PES/WE series.

It made me laugh, anyway. Also I scored a crossbar and in with Ronaldinho about 40 yards out, the keeper was off his line so I blasted it and he backtracked and nearly got his fingertips to it ... it was very realistic how it happened.

The kids name is Nathan Smith! Little rugrat seems to get lost at every game! I wonder how many names were programmed into it.

The crowd are very good. The Barcelona crowd get into full voice singing their entry song ending with barce BARce BARCE!

OK, so I have no finished playing it, roughly 20 games all together. At least 4 on each difficulty setting using a variety of teams.

My final conclusion ... what the **** is wrong with human goalkeepers?

They are worse in this game than they are in current gen! I swear in all the games I played my keeper probably only made 2 saves ... Werder Bremen beat me 3-1 on semi-pro because my keeper was a dumb ****.

I can see this becoming a major issue if it isn't fixed for the final version.

That is my only real problem with the game, outfield everything is amazing. Well done EA on that ... but really, they need to do something about the ****ty GK AI.

i think GK AI is fine, I can hold off the semi-pro cpu and pressure them so my defence can help make the strikers make mistakes with their shots and ease off that 'pressure' on my GK so he can make great saves or just have the cpu miss completly. If you give the cpu the time and let them compose a good shot then of course your GK will appear bad, he is totally alone in the 1v1 situation!! Strikers almost always come out on top.

NK.

I am yet to have any issues with the GK AI. I have played 7 games all on semi pro. I've conceded3 goals, 1 was a penalty and the other 2 were simply good finishes that I would not expect my keeper to save.

On the other side, I've always scored 1, if not 2 goals a game. The opposition GK also plays at a good level.

However, I have noticed the the CPU teams rarely get shots on target unless they are closer than 12 yards! Maybe thats why my GK is looking good; because the opposition are useless!

The more I play the more the game feels, well, a little wooden. Sure, different things happen every game giving you some excitement. But every attack seems to happen in the same way. Every time I pass I still can't move my player until the ball reaches his feet. This for me is very annoying.

A good game, a remarkable improvement and a superb base for future games. However, as with all new engines there are some issues to be worked out! And finally, how can I get booked when theres no ref on the pitch :fool: !

the crazy tricks are not in the 360 version, you can perform step-overs and the like and turns, not no crazy tricks that you hardly ever see in real games. It's more tactical to beat defenders.

The gameplay is fantastic! Very realistic.
NK.

You cannot perform step-overs...if you can, please tell how cause i've tried everything.

I agree with you about the crazy tricks, but step-overs aren't crazy tricks and you see it all the time in real games... it's a shame that they haven't included at least some damn step-overs... cause the rest is just fine.

cheers!

Yes its an great improvement, but still missing that "total control" feeling of pes.
Especially shots dont give me that feeling. And they feel a little dull.
Graphics and animations are great no doubt about that. But the game feels a little sluggish and unresponsive. Selecting players also goes sluggish, the cpu often chooses the wrong player.

Tactically they have made some changes and they looked well in the direction of pes. A lot of stuff they took over like the attacking and defensive arrows, but i dont know if the players really show this attitude in the game, havent really tested it. The players also have more attributes, but i didnt really noticed major differences between the players. Also weak foots didnt seem to be implemented.
So tactically its not as deep as pes.

I havent seen any tricks in the game and can't seem to peform any either. Whats with EA, first they make fifa like a circus with all kind of trick and now they dont put any trick in the game? Maybe I missed it, but there arent even step overs or side steps.

My first impression when i had just donwloaded the demo was WOW
but now at the end of the day you have the old fifa feeling where you see the little mistakes, fault and scripts.
Though its the best fifa ive ever played, so ea is in the right direction. Better luck with Fifa08.
I would give this a 6/10 compared to pes
Compared to previous fifa's i would give it an 8/10

YEEEEEEEEEES thats awesome the crowd finally sings the club himne, they sorta have it in current gen but its just "tot el camp, mes un club" over and over which gets a tad annoying, would love to see it in the 360 game, sounds awesome other than the ****ty graphics, i thinbik ea need to get some people off the nba 2k7 team to help with graphics cos those r absolutely awesome, the sweat reacting with the realisitc cloth shirts is absolutely awesome but its only early days tho, is there any sweat??

After a days play, I agree with this post. Shooting doesn't provide much feedback and the control is extremely sluggish. I was beginning to think it was my wireless controller, but hearing others having the same problem assures me its not hardware, but software.

Yes, there is. A lot of the faces look absolutely amazing, some not so much (scholes - who doesn't look much like he does in real life). Kits and cloth movement is also really, really nice. I'm not so impressed by the player sizes though, most of the guys seem to have nearly identical body builds.

You guys have probably figured this out but if you Click-Down the Right Thumbstick in the menu mode with Ronaldinho you can practice free kicks (or penalties).

On these free kicks does anyone know how to add curl to them? I've tried using either thumbstick, the bumpers - no dice. If anyone can figure it out please let me know!

Cheers

So guys, seriously, I mean without being a PES fan and stuff like this:

Is the game a huge improvement? And is the "non responsiveness" is just about having more real game?

I'm really worried here.

i've played a good few matches on the demo yesterday and think it is the most realistic football game i've played to date. Ball physics, animations, graphics, player handling...very realistic and you have to get used to it.

I'll post my review on the demo soon over at Sweetpatch :jap:
