THIRTY-three English football fans agreed to be deported from Portugal today following outbreaks of violence in the Algarve.
The fans were bundled into court, some in ripped and bloodied shirts, to face accusations of rioting in the tourist resort of Albufeira in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Prosecutors agreed to offer no evidence against the fans during the 30-minute hearing.
In return, the men all agreed to leave the country voluntarily and be banned from returning for one year.
All wearing the same clothes they were arrested in, they sat in four rows in the courtroom, flanked by seven Portuguese military policemen.
Eleven other Englishmen currently face deportation following riots in the same town the previous morning.
The youngest of the fans agreeing to return home was 20 while the oldest was in his 40s.
They were told they could write an affidavit describing their own version of events which led to their arrest.
The case was finally heard after being moved back and forth from the town’s courthouse to a larger auditorium and then back to the courthouse again.
The fans had been brought to court this morning by military police in three green trucks amid high security and blaring sirens.

Sun photographer in Albufeira
I’VE come under enemy fire and feared for my life many times as an award-winning war photographer in Iraq.
But nothing could prepare me for the two hours of mindless hatred I confronted on the glass-strewn streets of a Portuguese holiday town.
It was thousands of miles from Basra and Baghdad, but Albufeira was every inch a battlefield.
I was there to watch the trouble spot where England soccer yobs had run rampage the previous day. It was a baptism of fire.
It started with the gathering of a posse of pot-bellied English drunks comparing tattoos in the street.
We watched the soccer-shirted group down pint after pint near the La Bamba bar where violence erupted the previous day.
Headlock ... thug is hauled away
By midnight the sheer volume of drunk fans wedged between it and the Reno bar opposite had the small groups of police looking edgy.
Reinforcements appeared as the first chants of “In-ger-land, In-ger-land, In-ger-land” filled the air.
Innocent fans from other Euro 2004 nations faced grim abuse.
Black passers-by were rounded on. By 1am a violent flashpoint was inevitable among the 300-strong mob.
Sporadic missiles were hurled as four mounted police officers gingerly tried to part the massed fans.
At 2am a group surged across the road to the Reno and began kicking in doors and windows.
Cops — backed with dogs and horses — mounted a charge into the ragged English line and were met with a hail of bottles, furniture and debris.
Pinned down ... yob put in cuffs
I reached for my camera but as I lifted my lens, an unseen yob set on me from behind, smashing me in the side of the head and cutting my lip.
I lifted my hand to defend myself and was attacked again, this time with a blow which broke my watch and injured my wrist.
The impact knocked me off my feet and colleagues had to help me scramble back up amid the mayhem.
But I was immediately confronted by another hooligan who pushed and manhandled me for five minutes.
He screamed: “You f***ing scum — why are you taking our pictures. How much are you getting paid, eh? I’m Nottingham Forest and I’ll f***ing have you.”
But this was no teen thug — he was a man in his 40s, probably with teenagers of his own.
I dodged into a bar but even then I was not safe.
Others followed and I was forced to take refuge in a locked toilet for 15 depressing minutes. Then I had to change my shirt and hide under a cap just to reach my car.
Bloodied ... wounded fan seized
I felt wretched — not just because these low-lifes stopped me doing my job — but because I was English like them.
It’s incomprehensible they were born of the same country as the brave Marines I met last year.
They risked their lives to preserve the freedoms of scum who glory in blackening our name abroad.
Police later said 33 English thugs were arrested during the second night of riots. Thirty-two others were hurt.
Yob ... 'fan' rants at Sun team
Those held are set to face similar violent disorder charges to the 12 English fans held a night earlier.
Yesterday Tony Blair tore into the English thugs who “shamed” the nation and said they would face justice when they return home.
Meanwhile, England coach Sven Goran Eriksson insisted the squad would not be distracted by the yobs.
He said: “Our concentration and focus is on what we have to do.”

Tiny kn*bs of football yobs
SOCCER yobs’ tiny minds are only matched by their tiny WILLIES, says a psychologist.
Dr Glenn Wilson, 61, of the University of London said yesterday: “Hooligans are needy, desperate and frustrated.
“Their lack of success in life combined with their team’s lack of success on the pitch leads to this violence.
“It is also connected to high levels of the male hormone testosterone, coupled with an absence of sexual success.
“Too many male hormones and no release for them leads to sexual inadequacy.
“Alcohol has an effect that helps to dissolve the civilised brain. For most people this is not a problem.
“But in hooligans the civilised brain is already so small it can dissolve away quickly.”
