2nd Charlotte Derby (!!!!!)

Bobby

The Legend
This is the 2nd Charlotte Derby, the first one was played in 1898 when Charlotte Hornets defeated FC Mallard Creek 8-1 in East Charlotte.

This time they square off again, with AFC Charlotte Hornets 1888 play FC Mallard Creek at Hornet's Nest Park in Hornet's Nest, Charlotte.

It's also in danger of being called off because of crowd violence and ice storms.

Player to watch: 22. Fabinho (Charlotte), fast and smooth.

Latest Results:
Charlotte 4-0 Mint Hill United -- Hornet's Nest
Mallard 0-2 Methodist Home (CHA) -- HUD Stadium

Gonna be on ESPN.

Starting XI
finally, after weeks of anticipation it's here

a lot of cheap shots in the media from players on either side

but the mullard creek boys seem to have level heads, able to cope with the atmosphere in a pressure cooker derby

mullard creek 1-0 for me

What is this league and where are the locations. I just moved to Charlotte in August and am still too busy with my job to get connected in the football community. Where are some places to watch games and to see good football?

I remember the ongoing transfer rumors of Nathan Bedford Forrester from the sunny pines and government purchased training grounds of Madrid to the M. League. Any details as to a possible destination or fee?

Gagiz, you, King and GiggsRox should have a "legend off" to see how many crazy ass, unfathomable statements each of you can generate in one thread. That would be absolutely gloroious (H)

The Legend
Charlotte 6-0 Mallard Creek

The sun has fallen behind the deep forests of Charlotte, as the stars begin to appear like diamonds on the midnight blue sky, a loud winter wind rolls across mountain island, making it's way into Mecklenburg county across the industral western half of Charlotte like a messenger on horseback. The tidings from the west tell of heroic deeds and glorious victory. Like a powerful wind through a late autumn forest, the green and grey army of AFC Charlotte has swept away its enemies like those warriors who so bravely defended the city during the American Revolution. For in economically battered area of Hornets Nest a great battle has ended as the shattered legions of Ducks fans and players head home the Hornets stand on the field basking in victory.

The brave lads of the east poured out their hearts upon the pitch, and when it was all over, the emotion cascaded over them all, leaving not a dry eye in sight. The hero of the contest -- Jayquan "Fabinho" Williams -- addressed the crowd after the final whistle with tears pouring down his face, and a voice choked with emotion. He declared a moral victory against the side who had fielded an accused child molester not one week earlier. (The man, who shall remain un-named for legal reasons, was plucked from the murky depths of eastern Kentucky in July.) Fabinho's six goals saw the Hornets to victory in what will surely be his final match in the green and grey as he is headed for bigger things.

The whole fury and might of the enemy
Must very soon be turned upon us
If we can stand up to this test
Then the life of our world may move forward
Into broad, sunlit uplands
But if we fail, then our whole world
And all that we have known and cared for
Will sink into the abyss of a new Dark Age . . .
Let us therefore brace ourselves to our duties
And so bear ourselves that,
If AFC Charlotte Hornets 1888 should last for a thousand years
Men will still look back and say
That this . . . was their finest hour!

I'd rather have them shot.
