2016 Summer Olympic Games

Does anyone care about where it's going to be held? If rumours are to be believed, it's between Rio and Chicago, with Madrid and Tokyo also competing. The final decision is to be announced next Friday (Oct 2nd).

As a Brazilian, and considering only the sports fan part of me, I'd love it if the Olympics were held in Rio, but I don't think we should be bidding for it, much like I prefer to get the house clean before inviting people over. If the Pan Am games held in Rio are any indication of what is to be expected, then we won't have security problems, but then again, we'll spend LOADS of money on stuff that no one will use after the games are over.

Aren't you guys hosting the 2014 world cup? Won't that be too soon between the 2 largest sporting events in the world?

Make America Great Again
Hopefully it goes to Chicago, but I have to say, if I had to make a list of 10 American cities to host the Summer Games, I don't know if Chicago makes my list. NYC would be #1.

I think we already had a thread about this. Anyway Chicago to win it by a mile...sadly. I would like to see it in Tokyo or Rio actually.

I've heard that China are starting to produce the women gymnastics for the games in a few days by searching for the parents with the best genes.

Discuss.

Not a new idea.
Those (researches) are general at Chinese sports which China are strong worldwide - by massive invest (to quite talented youngs and make them a player) and put social systems around.
But Plenties of Ronaldo and Messi are farming without knowing their talents in China if China digs those people out of 130 million people can make their football NT as much strong as Brazil. (It could happen if China cares/spends as much as gymnastics or table tennis - Well someone consider that China is bad at football because of their gene). Well many kids are eager to become a prof player of table tennis etc (Deserves high money) - It is almost as hard as becoming a footballer in Brazil NT and there are plenty of training areas of them which made them strong. :S

Btw

This gave Olympics and WC to Brazilian and made 'Golden age' to them.

I feel like a lot will be promised, loads of money will be spent, and Rio will still be the hellhole it is today....

still, as a famous saying in Brazil goes, if you're about to get raped and you can't avoid it, relax and come. (yeah, what kind of twisted culture would have a saying like that?)

So yeah, I'll probably be there for the games and I'm gonna enjoy it....

Yeah, again, both countries have their similarities.. During the competition, EURO2004 was amazing, but now all that's left is a bunch of oversized, empty stadiums and a bunch of debt.

don't forget we do have the 2014 World Cup as well, so we'll spend a lot of money on 60k+ stadia, in a league with an average of less than 20k people in each match.......

What a brilliant idea that stadium in Faro turned out to be.

we'll probably build one in Manaus, so the next time you play FM as Rio Negro you won't have issues with the size of the stadium, Bobby
