10 Years Of Memory!!!

greetings!!!!!
to all of you who dont remember, today exactly 10 years ago, COLOMBIA gave ARGENTINA a big lesson in buenos aires.
the match was to determine which of the two nations will have a direct passport to US world cup 1994, everybody thought that argentina will have no problem to beat colombia, or even tie.
but after a marvelous pass of Carlos "El Pibe" Valderrama, Freddy Rincon started writing the path to what would be one of them most incredible feats in the history of football, that day the world stoped and rendered homage to this great team that gave high hopes to a whole nation hunger of triumph like Colombia.
If you dont remember, Colombia won 5-0 to Argentina in Buenos Aires (estadio monumental de river).

Freddy Rincon scored twice, and so did Faustino "El tino" Asprilla.
The last goal was converted by "El tren" Valencia.

Colombia played great, as a team and the result was this 5-0 that nobody could believe.
I think this day was very important in football history, in fact, the whole stadium stood up and clapped Colombia for about 5 minutes. Can you imagine Argentine's clapping to other team rather than theirs?
I invite you all to remember this date and post whatever you think about it.

man i really don't want to remember this... since Colombia was killing Argentina at the meantime Paraguay needed to score JUST ONE MORE GOAL against Peru (the game was tied 2-2 and ended like that) to qualify for WC94

uhmm Paraguay instead of Argentina in a world cup??i know it doesn't sound good but it almost happened back in 94 :crazyboy:

your wrong, Colombia just needed to tie to go to the World Cup, and Argentina needed to win
How can you say they needed to win? Surely, the fact that they lost yet still went to the World Cup suggests that they didn't need to win...

but when it matter the most they failed... i still remember poor guy who scored the own goal that was murder... horrible... sorry can't remember his name... recoba or something... correct me please....

Yes, that was a great day for COlombia, heck I remember I was in Armenia, watching on TV, and I couldn't believe it, when Rincon scored the first, then the second came after halftime, and the third. Anyway, it was a great day, to see them play that way. That game split Colombia's soccer history in two, because since 1989 with Atl. Nacional winning the Libertadores was the start of something great. In the Qualifying for '94, Colombia played like a dream, we ended first from S.A. and were favorites to the World Cup. That 5 - 0 was the pinnacle, we had done what no one had done before, beat Argentina on their home turf by a huge margin. That 5 - 0 also gave Colombia a shot of overconfidence that ultimately hurt us, and look what happened in USA 94. Its great to remember the 5 - 0, and that will be hard for any other Colombian NT to surpass.

how do you guys remember stuff like this....
no no...
WHY do you remember games like this? Was it that important?
You were fighting for a WC place, not like you were playing in a final!
You should have pride that your country is sweet, and not relish on beating argentina....you know how many posts I would have if I did that?....
anyway thats just my opinion.
good luck tomorrow, may the best team win.
