I've just downloaded the second 'updated' demo of FIFA 2003.
I've played this demo now for a few times. My problem is: I've no numbers and names at the backs of the players. Are there more people with the same problem or other problems? Please put a post in this thread when you have a problem with the updated demo...

right ... its obvious why this is happening ... old kits

i cant think of any other explanation, if someone could check this out it would be very helpful to stop all this speculation.

Yes they didn't fix my problem either.

My problem: Game runs very smoothly on intro, but when it pauses, the framerate becomes very choppy and hard to play because of this.

My specs:
Geforce 4 ti 4200
Asus A7V133 mobo
Athlon xp 1800
Sound Blaster Audigy
256mb ram

C'mon EA, fix this stuff so I can play your excellent games!

After the file self-extracts, a message appears saying:

"A required .DLL file D3D8.DLL was not found."

And you can't run the fifa2003demo.exe file... what the f**k...

file means, you don't have direct x 8.0 installed


or it is not properly installed


download and install it from microsoft web site

dude, your comp is amazing, what OS u got?

I have an Athlon 1800xp as well, Asus A7S 333 m/b and same amount of ram. GeForce 4 MX 440 and mine runs sound.

for your video card, do u use the normal drivers that come with it, or detonator drivers from nvidia.com. cause that could and most likely would be the difference.

@grassy56: thanks dude! Unfortunately I've tried Nvidia reference drivers 40.72, 40.71, 40.41 and the slightly older 30.82's and nothing seems to work. I've even tried the Omega drivers (www.omegacorner.com - which rock awesomely, and I recommend them to anyone with an nvidia card), but to no avail. I have everything else running up to date drivers, so I don't know what it could be apart from some error in the code that EA didn't see. Also, I should mention this: the problem only goes away after I have restarted windows, but once again, the second I pause, the framerate chugs big time.

hmmm ... something must be really slowing your comp down, do u have many taskbar items running in the bottom right hand corner, and also any anti virus software or any other bg programs?

if so, try halting them while playing the game

yup. sometimes things in the taskbar slow your game down, like that ****ing light bulb that asks you to register DAP.

Yes, I've tried EVERYTHING, and that means disabling taskbar programs. Nothing works to solve the problem. I've tried messing with the bios, changing drivers, all that stuff.

hmmm ... is any part of your machine overclocked?

if so pull it back to normal

then try.

Yep, tried that too. I did go back to stock clock speeds on my card but it was doing it anyway. Besides, all my other games run fine with my ti4200 at 280 core/550 memory anyway,
But seriously, I've tried everything under the sun. I'm posting this more as an attempt that one of the EA employees might stumble across this and tell the programmers.

My problem with the first and the second demo are the adboards. I can only see the back of the adboards.

Is there a solution for this problem?

could you try out if reinstalling the game works

No, I've tried that several times, but is doesn't work. I also tried putting the resolution higher and the detail. That didn't work either.

Just wait for about one week and everthing is alright (I hope) because then is the release of FIA2003! I think that everything will be fixed then...
