United States v Brazil [P|R]

We couldn't afford to give up a 2-0 lead. Today we are playing the REAL #1 team in the world and we are not ready to beat Spain and Brazil back to back, its just too much to ask and I think that it would put too much pressure on our team anyway going forward. I wish we could win though but its hard to imagine winning after blowing the wonderful 2 goal lead. This game is driving me crazy. Sasha K doesnt deserve to be on the field.

Starting XI
unf*cking believable. 2-0 now 3-2 Brazil. I mean they are a world class team you can't just be overconfident going till the second half with another 45 mins left. DAMN IT!!!!

edit: I leave the house for 25mins to get more beers and I come back and they are losing 3-2 and CASEY IS ON THE FIELD?? this isn't rugby!!!

It was easy to see it coming, we are just running out of gas, Brazil is a much better team than Spain, yes, 99% of the time I say we should hold a 2-0 lead but Brazil is not ready to let the US beat them yet. No big deal, Brazil had to work their a** off to win this game.

Bradley and his ******* bunker bull****. Has that ever ******* worked Bob?! You've gotten us ass ****ed four times with it this year alone. Think about that.

It did.

Classic Bob Bradley. Sits on his hands and makes no subs until Brazil equalize. Just watches as his tired players huff and puff up the field like a bunch of chain smokers running a marathon, no longer closing down their men. And then.... we've closed the book on the Beasley era this tournament, can we please close the book on the Casey and Kljestan eras too? What a bunch of bums.

Other than that I didn't think we played too bad. Brazil made the right adjustments at halftime and in the second half, and Bob Bradley let them do it. Congrats to Brazil.

This saves his job, actually. We may be the only finalists in history with a losing record. 5 played, 2 won, 3 lost.

Look, we were without our best midfielder today, that was probably the difference. I cant believe we played as well as we did without Bradley in the game. Be proud, No one should talk any crap about the US because I dont know any team in Europe or anywhere else that have gone 2-0 on them in a major competition. We are just to inexperienced to finish. We are a very very young team.

Like I said, USA was playing very wel :)

Regardless, it was a lesson on how an inferior team should play: Cool headed. Exploit the other team weakness and stick with the plan.

In the end it wasn't the tactics that won the game. It was the talent/enthusiasm. It would be great if Brazil learned how to play tactically, though.

good, i'm not the only one who thought bradley was being a dumbass. spector, as much as i'm a huge fan of his, just had nothing left the last twenty minutes, while demerit and onyewu were looking a little leggy themselves. what was the point in subbing out strikers and attacking mids when the ball wasn't even making it that far up the field?

USA should be disappointed because they horribly exposed on the flanks. They were letting Maicon and Robinho run free throughout the whole match.

I know it saves his job, and I think Bradley does a really good job game planning for teams. His problems are recognizing talent: I thought Adu needed to come on for Davies when it was 2-1 to run his ass off up top, Kljestan clearly can't play at any sort of international level, and Casey is absolutely horrendous; and making adjustments. Lippi made him look like an amateur with his adjustments (which BB didn't respond to), and now Dunga did the same. I can't believe you can just sit back and let Brazil go ultra attacking, and not make a single change. ESPECIALLY when your players are that tired.

That was what we did against Spain too. The plan is to let them have the flanks, but beat the strikers to every cross. Spector and Bocanegra aren't classic fullbacks, they're center backs, so we basically were defending crosses with 4 big aggressive center backs. What can and did beat that tactic, which Dunga clearly mentioned at half, are low crosses, deep crosses, and running inside from the flanks.
