watched and would say that the Italians were unlucky with the 1st goal, on another day, it would've been ruled out for offside, despite the rule the most people don't know about. Cheeky ref/linesman probably didn't see Panucci and covered all of it up by referring to the rule book after the match, hehehe.
well, the Italians were made to pay for negative tactics(letting the Dutch come at them early on) and also probably due to their fear of taking the risk of giving youngsters like Chiellini, Aquilani and De Rossi a chance....
well, the controversial goal was the 1st goal so it was a major turning point of the game. If the goal was the 2nd or 3rd goal, it wouldn't have matter much.
The 1st goal gave the young and energetic Dutch team the opportunity to absorb pressure and hit the not so young and energetic Italians on the break.(see 2nd and 3rd goals, all very brilliantly executed counter-attacks).
and Van Der Sar was outstanding once again. just brilliant.
Have the young Dutch team finally reached their peak? We'll see. Still a long way to go but they certainly impressed almost everyone(;P) with the way they played.
And the Italians need to win desperately against Romania if they want to go through. They need the result going to the game against France, thats what I think, at least.
