Very inteligent tactic play by mexico in 1st half, We (Argentina) were lucky to score the draw very close to the mexican goal, in the second half Argentina was better and Mexico plays not so well, fantastic 2nd goal by M. Rodriguez. I think it was a just score in a very close game. :bob:

Serious you guys that say the referee was biased for Argentina have no place to talk, what about all the fouls Mexico did, specially on attack and specially Borgetti, and no yellow card was shown. And Ayala was behind the line of Heinze that's why it wasn't straight red.

The only reason they started committing fouls was because the mexicans WERE PISSED at the ****en referree. I WISHED Blanco was there to give this PUSSy-ASS-FACED referree a ****en LESSON (H).

Borgetti was about to CRACK, that's how much this referree was pro-ARGENTINA.

Screw Argentina, I hope Brasil teaches you another lesson (i.e a 4-0) for not letting quality teams defeat you :hump:

No idea if it was only me but part of the second half until Argentina's second goal, Mexico didn't look with a lot of will to attack.

I believe it's better that this was such a tough match, because this will help to fix things to play teams like Germany next.:jambo:

i totally agree; after the goal mexico lost a little motivation you could see it in their faces

anyways argentina should be a litlle worried cause germany has amore agreessive offense.

Yeah, but it is always very tough against the Mexicans, they all know each other very well..

well i can only say at least iam proud losing to a team like argetina; cause they are a great team; than losing to the US again or something like that.

btw; do you think mexico could beated holland if we played like today.

very even game...both sides had good chances of winning, but Maxi Rodriguez' shot made all the difference...and there was a clear red card for Heinze, but not given - what a shame, poor refeering again...congrats to both teams

p.s. hey you mexican guys, heads up...your team played very well...i think this a very dignified way to lose...and less harmful than losing by penalty shootout :ewan:

VAMOS ARGENTINA, CARAJO...!!!

What a great Goal by Maxi...!!!

I think we have a new classic in our hands...always against Mexico its like this...one goal difference.

Lavolpe did a great job with the tactic, but Pekerman did better, Maxi, Messi, Riquelme, Aimar, Tevez...try to stop that...!!! hehehehe...

Germany will be hard. World Champion vs. World Champion...most attractive game of the cup so far...

anyways ; iam starting to worried what holds the future for the mexican team ; iam starting to wonder if they ever going to get past the 16 ; hope the sub 17 (now sub 20) world cup championship was not just a past fluke and work hard with those boys.

Mexico doesn't know how to do **** but play a 9-0-1 formation, play everybody behind the ball, foul, and score from set-pieces. What were they going to do after the Rodriguez goal? Can't equalize by fouling the crap out of Messi. Far and away the most overrated team in the world. Deservedly eliminated, since they only go through the group due to FIFA's crocked seeding system. And even then they sucked, put a half decent team in there instead of Angola or Iran and Mexico wouldn't have even got through.

Just goes to show, FIFA can protect their favorites in the group stages but the knock-out stages tend to even things out.

Surprised that Argentina did not have it all that easy.....Mexico really thwarted their attacks well. It just seemed that Argentina was able to turn it up when they felt like it...although they did not do much of that today. Henize and Sorin could have had better games!

Yep, but some coaches doesn't have the balls to put them all together in a playoff match...

Even with all of them, Mexico was very hard...

Are you ******* kidding me? So what? the Mexicans finally decided to "wake up" in the round of 16. They always play well, but overall this has to be one of the worst performance OVERALL in the 2006 world cup for MExico. Hell, Mexico didn't even DESERVE to go through to the second round.

I know you dumbass they had an injury Pardo and Guardado, but so what? You should have QUALITY substitutes, NOT MEDIOCRE players who only got convened to the squad in order to get a 'free vacation' in Germany. Lavolpe's favoritism towards mediocre players showed how STUPID he really is.

I don't deserve to be a Mexican? WTF? I am a PROUD AMERICAN CITIZEN, and I hope the U.S invades your sorry country in order to FIX the beaner MESS down there.

Mexico had better WC performances, hell they tied with BELGIUM 2-2, and HOLLAND 2-2, WC 2002 = 1-0 Croatia, 1-1 Italy, same in 94. In 98' round of 16 mexico only lost 2-1 to GERMANY.

This current squad can't even defeat a SINGLE european team. THAT'S HOW MUCH THEY SUCK ASS!
mexico usually plays good vs argentina, its a lot harder to play a team on their continent rather than in 02', i think mexico played good this WC and could of got past the 16's but unlucky to face argentina maybe expectations were a bit high, didint the US win qualifications.

Yes, it's completely opposite to America. What are you, 3rd in the rankings? Give me a break. I've seen better teams in the lower leagues of England.

Credit to you though, none of your players actually picked the ball up and ran over the goal line when you couldn't score.

Usual comments after a victory of Argentina in SGF:

"The referee was pro-Argentina."

"X player of Argentina should have got a red card, besides what the rules say.

"The other team deserved to win just because."

"Argentina has no chance against whatever team they could play next.

:boohoo:
