I recently bought FIFA 08, and I have been playing it for some time now. And OH MY GOD WHAT A ******* **** GAME IT IS. I had to pause the game now, open my browser, and write a post here just to get my frustration out. I really have to tell everyone that you never should buy this piece of **** (you'll do it anyway, but ok).
Don't get me wrong - I'm not a newbie who just finds the game too difficult, and whine because I can't score goals or something. I've been playing FIFA 07 since it came out, and most of the time I've been playing on the highest difficulty level, scoring goals and winning matches like some über FIFA God on speed. FIFA 07 was a very good game, and I mastered it nearly perfectly. My expectations were high on FIFA 08 - and now I want to kill it with a knife, **** on it, and throw it in the river along with my computer. NOTHING IS IMPROVED AT ALL! All the ******* flaws are still there, and YAY - new, EVEN MORE annoying flaws have turned up! Every single flaw is THE SAME **** as in FIFA 07, NOTHING is new with this game exept for some crappy boring modes like "be one tard instead of 11". The graphics has improved, but who gives a **** when the gameplay still has all the flaws? I feel like I'm still playing FIFA 07, only with a face lift and an uglier gameplay! Why couldn't the EA nazi antichrists make us feel like we're really playing something new?
List of irritation:
1. When you start a match, you see your team selection - for ONE FRIGGIN SECOND. Why the hell does it disappear before you even can see what team it is?
2. Players you don't control are even more retarded than before - watch them run AWAY from the ball when the opponent is about to take it, and stand like some ******* poles when you pass a long ball to them
3. The through balls used to be very effective - now they all of a sudden suck dick? Instead of making the pass ahead through the space so the players run after it, they very often turn out as sketchy vertical passes across the field that the opponent picks up.
4. Finishing is still too hard, no matter what masterful striker you are. You control Ronaldo, Rooney, Henry, you name it - alone with the keeper, guess who wins? NOT you. Sometimes you nail it, when the keeper does a mistake, but usually you find yourself shooting straight ahead and the keeper easily blocks it. Changing direction is all of a sudden impossible, and even if you could get a little turn on the shot, the keeper has no problem to stop it. Try to dribble past the keeper like a pro, and the keeper will just jump on you and steal the ball WITHOUT BLINKING. You can NEVER be sure to score when one on one, and it's just not realistic at all.
I enjoyed FIFA 07 very much, so I can handle the old flaws- but the new ones make me so angry I could kill anyone. Why can the opponent dribble past my defense so easily? I'm Manchester ******* United, the opponent is DERBY!!! And even in Semi Pro they dribble their way through like I was a nobody. Why are my defenders useless? And it's not like i have control over them - they just do as they please. I can't seem to switch between players? The old switch button that used to be the pass button doesn't work, and neither does anything else (I have a Logitech pad). The trick joystick sometimes seem to switch players, but if there's some kind of system here that lets me decide which player I need to control, it sucks ass from a straw. I have no control at all, usually the opponent just run through with one player, my defenders not confronting at all, and when I wriggle the joystick like a monkey I usually find midplayers or strikers have the blue arrow over their heads, far away from the ball.
PLEASE let there be something I have not read in the stinking manual I don't even want to touch without gloves now, instead of the horrible fact that this game REALLY isn't any better.
YES, it's PC version. YES, I have a game pad. And NO, I've never had any problems mastering FIFA on PC.

Give me advice how I can stop my 4 1/2 star team from getting ass raped by the most useless teams in soccer history. Tell me how I can defend!!! Attacking is hard, good players still need a lot of luck to pull off the fancy dribbles, and opponent deffenders of course seem to know what they're doing - but it were like this on hard difficulty levels in FIFA 08 too, so I can handle it. But I CAN NOT handle that I let in 3 goals against Derby when I don't do anything wrong, and the opponent team just dribble through a USELESS defense, and even scoring on "magic" shots from dead angles when my keeper is supposed to be professional.
