Yeah I think this season Darren will show what he's really made of and getting back players like Smith, Scholes and Ole is like getting 3 new players (Y)

I want Darren to prove everybody but from the bench...IMO He doesnt have the quality to start a MU. Now If He can contribute from the bench maybe he could see full action at some Cup games but lets face it. Fletcher is not class like Becks or Ronaldo and thats something we need in our Midfield. But I'm starting to think SAF wont bring All stars player this summer. He doesnt like the Idea of a player being more important to the club than the Boss...Thats why Becks left. SAF needs to understand people love players not coaches. But dont get me wrong I do know all he has done for United but his lately attitute towards some players hasnt been the best.

I will only be worried one week before the closure of the transferwindow, atm I don't have any reason to do that. A deal can be made within 2 days, there are more then 30 days left...

yes, the transfer window isnt closing soon..
but it would be preferable that they come in and train with the lads before the season actually kick off...
we cannot afford yet another slow start to the season..

Ruud might stay afterall, but i still doubt it.

And even though i probably shouldn't, but i am starting to worry about us signing a midfielder this summer. Fergie said a few days ago that the reason why nothing was done yet is because they were waiting for the Juventus situation to get sorted and then we will look into one of "Buffon, Cannavaro, Vieira, Emerson, Zambrotta and Thuram". The situation is all cleared up, Buffon is not going anywhere, Cannavaro and Emerson are at Real now, Zambrotta and Thuram are at Barca and Vieira is going to Inter 99% sure. What gets me is that all those signings just happened without any attepmts to get them from United. Is it just me or was there really news half a year ago when David Gill said that they will definietly sign a world-class midfielder in the summer, that they couldn't sign in January because he was playing CL football that season? Surely they didn't confuse Arsenal with Spurs. But right now i think that we will only get Carrick and we will also overpay for him.

I remember 4 years ago i think when we were really trying hard to sign a defender or a midfielder to solve our terrible defense problem, but ended up with nobody and bought a goalkeeper called Ricardo for no friging reason.

The board better be doing something, because i'm slowly starting to lose confidence in them, first they were promising us a good player before the WC, then they said that it will prolly happen right before the first WC game, then they said that it will happen right after the world cup, but for sure. And now 2 weeks gone and all we get is 1 big bid rejected for a midfielder, 1 bid rejected for a forward, and 2 bids rejected for an unnecessary goalkeeper and the fact that we are :drevil:monitoring :drevil: the situations, which is true, we are keeping track of all the transfer deals in italy and spain pretty damn well. :kader:

ladylover i know there are 30 days or so left for the window to close but i rather have a world-class midfielder before the season starts not during. with all of our supposed juventus targets gone, who the else is left except for carrick, if we pay 15 mill for this dog, we can't we pay the same for mascherano?

We did sign Rio Ferdinand.

Yeah, you are right. But we were still looking to find another reinforcement and ended up with a goalkeeper out of nowhere.

And his marking against Benfica in Lisbon was supurb I must say.
Touché.

As for the part about worrying about new transfers, I'll be concerned if we don't have a new midfielder more than 10 days before the season kicks off. If the second (on the hope that we sign 2 midfielders) comes within 10 days of the Fulham match, I would be okay with that as long as the first is an answer-midfielder, not Carrick.

Duff could have done no harm as an addition and would have brought width, pace and goals to our midfield.
wonder why chelsea wanna sell him?and del horno too?
bpth of em played fantastically well every time they appeared

we havent missed out at all, the last time we were linked with hiim is when blackburn were after £17m and we told them to stick it and then he went off to chelsea, hes a good player no doubt about that but hes injury prone as hell these days and an £11m gamble on a player who can be amazing or be on the treatment table for months isnt one worth taking imo

im not sure why toon are buying him like cos really they need another forward, more worring for them is they already have a reputation of players getting injured soon after singing an already have dodgy mickey owen, why they want a player as prone as duff is beyond me

True, another great player, but injury prone is Dyer, he could be fantastic if he wasn't injury prone. We didn't miss out on Duff, I don't think that Chelsea would have sold him to us. We have enough players in the reserves who could even become better then him, such as Lee Martin etc..
