Keyboard Configuration fix

This is what i got from the EA forums. One guy posted this

You have to choose "alternate" to be able to change keys proberly, and to use the arrow keys . But when you change keys, you might run into this problem...

I used this and i got to use my the arrow keys as normal. didn't try for tricks, so its something you can play around with and see. You still might run into the settings not saving, but at least that's one hurdle gone.

If you customize those controls the game will crash as well at corner kicks.
You can't customize controls. Then at least the Alternate configuration is a bit better playable for me.
Btw if EA won't fix this, they won't see my money for FIFA 13.

Try this maybe help for you:

Maybe copy Documents/Fifa12 buttonDATAsetup.ini --> FIFA 13 Documents/FIFA 13demo

I have done the following:

Edited the buttonDataKeyBoardMouse.ini in Fifa 13 Demo/Game changing the NUMPAD2 to NUMPAD5 and also done the same thing in buttonDataSetup.ini found in Documents/Fifa13 and Documents/Fifa 13 Demo.

When I went to play a new game before selecting the teams I have taken the Alternate option for the keyboard and got a big surprise because now I control the movement of the players with the usual 4 arrows found on the keyboard.

Try and post back if it worked for you. Just to be safe first make a copy of the original files before editing.

I will try other modification to check if it will work with the pass, lob and other buttons also.

In the buttonDataSetup.ini only modified the part that relates to the Keyboard.

Unfortunately modifying the buttons in the ini files doesn’t work on the buttons. I can now play with the arrows but have to use the buttons for pass, lob etc. set by EA.

Even when using FIFA12 buttonDATAsetup.ini the modifying inside the game still crashes at corners and free kicks.

Some people say that they managed to make it work by using a Virtual Joystick PPJoy.

EA SPORTS has released a patch to fix keyboard crash, just update the Demo on Origin

Ill check this tomorrow, although I have no Origin installed but I will install it and than update the game hopefully.
