Contract renewals

I'm currently in the 2012/2013 season. Rooney and Ronaldo are in the last year of their contracts but are not interested in renewing. I offered them both new contracts at the beginning of the season when they were happy to discuss but they rejected them and now they won't even negotiate. Admittedly last season was pretty bad - finished fifth (God knows how) but things are on the up again now and that was a one off I've won the league, Champions League and FA cup in previous seasons (not at the same time unfortunately). What can I do to make them sign because I don't really want to lose them and losing them for absolutely nothing would be even worse.

Hmm, not much I suppose. FM players can be very stubborn when it comes to contracts and stuff. You could wait until you win some prizes and than try to offer them a contract.

Most likely is that they will walk away free, though. Next time take care of your big players contracts earlier. I always offered my key players new contracts atleast 1,5 year sometimes even 2 years before they went out of contract, in order to prevent these kind of situations.

Theyll probably enter into negotiations as late as possible, so as to make you sweat and offer a better deal. As is real life.
