Outside of relatives and friends, I haven't been affected by someone's death more so than hearing of Carlin's yesterday, man. See, he wasn't just my favorite comedian, but also one of my favorite peoples period. Few individuals have had more impact on my general approach to others, on my outlook on the world and ability to perceive humour than Carlin has, man.

It's truly remarkable and awe-inspiring that in his five decade career, he was able to stay relevant and original for four of 'em. In an industry where having more than one act is considered a major feat, it's really extraordinary listening back on his body of work and hearing the dozens and dozens of innovative and original material that is contained in his vast catalog.....I can't think of a more prolific comedian, man.

It's pretty bewildering attempting to mourn the passing of someone whose job was to make you spill yer sh!t because yer always getting a hearty laugh from your favorite material of theirs as you reminisce back, you know? George was such a nice and beautiful human. I got to see him live three times and had the chance to shoot the sh!t with 'em for a couple of mins at a book signing once and he went out of his way to be courteous and kind to me even though he was extremely busy and being hounded by his people to move it along......I'll always remember that vividly......I've got a fondness for the usage of hyperboles, but when I say this, I'm saying it without a hint of it.....he was by far the most influential person in my life thus far, man.

^^ the special that introduced me to George back when I was about 10.... still always evokes a very pleasant rush of memories every time that I happen to come across it.

^^couldn't be more pertinent to the current political climate

still hasn't sunk in properly, man. I mean, he's had a terrible heart condition for a long while and I'd been sporadically checking up on his going ons the past couple of years just to see if he had any recurring heart problems so as not to be hit with his unexpected demise, you know?

71 is still relatively young nowadays, I think......I mean, he was gigging as recently as laast week....what a derailment....I'm completely wrecked over this.

I guess it was his time.. I don't feel sad at all knowing that he did so much in his life-time.

RIP for one of comedy's greatest.

Well, this is certainly terrible news you've brought me Yoss. :(

I only began watching Carlin's shows sometime around last year, but I've seen several of them by now, and have more than enough evidence that the man was a total genius!

Great loss to humanity, but atleast he's spent the last 30 years or so expressing his views and speaking out on whatever he felt like speaking out on.

Rest In Peace, Georgie.

A few other forums that I frequent seem to have hordes of people talking about he was a big influence on them too. It's a shame I hadn't really watched or listened to his stuff before I heard about his death, I really like him judging from the few clips I've seen. A voice of reason and common sense.

Best comedian ever and there is no doubt it my mind about that. RIP, you'll be missed.

Just watched his last HBO Special and I was pretty much sat here applauding everything he said.

oh man =( this news got me feeling really upset

Carlin was one of the last great ones, in my opinion

Pryor is gone
Hicks is gone
hell, even Hedberg is gone

now Carlin? =(

RIP
