The Sevilla - Betis derbi isn't the prettiest, but it's one of the most passionate and most comical in the world. Here's the good bad and ugly from the past decade, in no order:

4) One team lodged a complaint about the away team's jerseys, colors that had been worn in derbies for decades, and forced a delay to the game while the other team fetched their alternates from their stadium.
5) Both teams have made 3-goal comebacks
6) Both teams have dropped their differences and shown overwhelming support for each other after the deaths of two young players.

I've been to one derby in enemy territory; I'm going to a home derby before I die.

Derby matches I have seen live:

Chelsea vs Tottenham
Chelsea vs Fulham
AC Milan vs Inter
Rangers vs Celtic
Hibernian vs Hearts
Colo Colo vs Universidad
Vancouver vs Seattle (not exactly derby but Cascadia)
Some random-ass Gambian game between clubs I dont remember the names of

I should've gone to see one of those while I was in Edinburgh, but the only games I saw there were two Scottish Rugby NT clashes (I'm not interested in rugby at all; I was invited by a friend). I never even went to some other game from the SPL, which I must say, is a huge error on my side.

Yeah, SPL is a good day out. I was in Scotland for four years so I went to quite a few, my favourite in fact were the really back water games that we went to just for the hell of it, like Hamilton Academicals vs Partick Thistle.

I have to mention Tehran derby here (Perspolis vs Esteghlal) ... those two clubs have more than 50 million fans and normally more than 100,000 people attend the game ... players like Ali Daei, Ali Karimi, Mehdi Mahdaviki played in Perspolis ... however, the quality of matches are very average at its best.

When I was in Tartu the Tamme stadium was being refurbished so Tammeka were playing on an astroturf pitch in Annelinn (the ghetto) which was honestly worse than the football pitches at my high school, it was surrounded by just a chain link fence, yet these were top division games and the referees were wearing the UEFA badge on their shirts. A Europa league qualifying spot was up for grabs in this league - it was a bit surreal

However they are now back in the Tamme which is a bit better.

Gambian teams play on a mud pitch but their league is not particularly formal if we are honest, though I think they do try to keep a table.

I have been to a lot of lower league English games but I actually really liked all of those stadiums as small and shitty as they were. Eastbourne Borough FC vs Basingstoke was a fine day out!
