I just realized that he's only 31 fuccking years old. The dude hasn't been relevant in like almost half a decade, man....what gives? Career ending type of injuries? Absence of ambition to continue on playing?

He used to be one of my favorites back when I first started to take soccer seriously, man. There are so many stars in his age bracket who are not only still playing, but performing at a high level aswell.

shame.....

Even in Lille he stayed mainly on the bench... And Lille is far away from the general European level...

I was disappointed when we let him go at the end of the 04/05 season. Maybe was the correct decision after all.

Just goes to show how hard it is to maintain a level of dedication even when you have so much talent.

He was one of the most powerful players and had a thunderbolt in his legs.....

Wow, only 31? That really is very surprising.....used to be amazing. Dissapointing to see how quickly he has fallen off the map.

He's actually not that bad now.
Yes, his playing level has dropped, but not that much.
He is still a legend and will always be.

Arguably my favourite international game. The atmosphere inside the stadium was amazing.....I think they called it ORANGE Clockwork. Too bad he didn't do it to Brazil....that would have done it for me.:)

Still can't forget his penalty miss against Italy in Euro 2000.
Now that has to be the best 0-0 draw in history.

On his site, i reads lille were happy with his perfomance last season, but he will look for a new club.

I fvcking detested him since his Milan days. But i kinda hate everything closely related to anything Oranje anyways (H) Sport wise i mean, i love Holland the country.

He was vastly overrated man. I remeber when he was at Barcelona, Van Gal brought all the dutch NT with him. That also helped Patrick score as many goals as he did score.

He's taking a coaching course so he can be a licensed coach soon. Together with Dennis Bergkamp (H). I'm not joking

I thought he was playing at Lille no? There were also rumors linking him with TFC in the MLS.

Umm I think I read on his wiki a few months ago that he was involved in a rape charge?

He's now doing a stage at AZ Alkmaar with Louis van Gaal. And not as a player but as assistent coach. He said if he wouldn't find a club in 4 weeks that he then stop with playing and doing the Coach School. I wouldn't be surprised if we see him as a player at AZ next year because the stikers there kinda suck. Oh and btw AZ is not a low level (Quarter Final UEFA Cup 2007, Semi Final UEFA Cup 2005, Allmost Champion of Holland 2007 only one goal to little.)

I really liked him back in the day, but hes those type of forwards that don't convert goal scoring chances, usually had to make several misses before he'd score. Also doesn't seem to be the most disciplined footballer off the pitch. Manslaughter and rape charges. Also heard something about when he was signed to Valencia they monitored his off the pitch behavior closely. Lack of consistency and bad luck most probably lead to his downfall. Still a gun player in his prime.

yup! my favourite game ive ever been to. the goals were amazing :) overmars!!!

and kluivert is one of my top favourite players ever (one of fave dutch players) :)

Apparently the Barça fans eventually got fed up with him. There was a joke here in Spain that went:

A man is convicted and sentenced to death by firing squad. Before he is executed, he is asked if he has any last requests. "Yes," says the man. "Have Kluivert shoot."
