I never thought I'd be one to ask about this, but 2006 is driving me absolutely crazy because general tactics that worked in 2005 now are useless.

Trying to devise a 4-4-2 with two holding midfielders for Juve. Any general advice? Zone vs Man Marking, etc?

Absolutly zonal. Vs tough opponents, let Emerson (i suppose you play him) man mark the opponents best striker (like Shevchenko)

i found that generally zone, but if the opposition has decent wingers, then man mark for your full backs.

DM C should get man marking + tight marking (with Zonal Marking on Team Instruction) and D C must be aware on corners and set pieces that might be a center of the opponent's tall players.

At least that worked for me in the demos.

My 4-5-1 (adapted into a 4-4-2) worked fine on the demo, by fine i mean with Tottenham i was winning most easy matches, and then giving teams such as chelsea a hard game but not neccasarily winning.

PM me if you wanna try it out.

TROD.

I play 4-4-2 with my wingers in advanced positions which guarentee the supply for my team. Sometimes, I play one central midfielder in the holding role.

I've actually found that taking the 'recommended' player instructions and modifying them slightly is a good way to start your tactic. (Y)

yeah whats so hard alex? if you "know" your tactic then you should really know most of the instructions :D

TROD.

well ruud, with 2 tactics i loaded from FM05 i had this problem, so i can say that at least, i, had this problem.

and tom,.. -ish. i dont have just one tactic and i cant remember everything. I had to run fm 05 and 06 at the same time, to find the instructions for all my midfielders (4-1-3-2 tactic)

Yeah, you're right. They were missing. My tactic just worked good without even applying player instructions :S

My player instructions are similar to the generalised player instructions anyway. Like Bill said, small changes only (bit more attacking mentality for my tactic) works best. Even better now, so... :p
