* Antonio De Nigris

31-year-old former Mexican international Antonio de Nigris passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 16.

The news was confirmed by Monterrey’s president Jorge Urdiales to Milenio Television saying, “We’d just like to inform that he died. At this moment we’re thinking about how to help Aldo and his family.”

His younger brother Aldo de Nigris is a player for Monterrey.

De Nigris played with the Mexican national team 16 times, scoring 4 goals in the process. He started out with Monterrey before a quick stint in America.

In recent years, the player plied his trade in Turkey at Ankarasapor and Ankaragucu before moving on the Larissa in Greece.

De Nigris is survived by his wife and his five-years-old daughter.

R.I.P.

This is really sad. R.I.P De Nigris :(

I really admired his professionalism.

I remember seeing him play for the Mexican NT a few times.. wow, another young player dies unexpectedly. Sad news, RIP

Ex-Ankaragücü chairman told that they've warned De Nigris n his lawyers and manager .. but some people told the chairman to stop doing it because he was being ridiculous talking about like that for a Mexico national player..

:/ :/ sad news' come more than usual nowadays.. :/

What's with all those football players' deaths nowadays? Something is obviously being done wrong. The rigorous training and the huge amount of matches being played per year probably contribute a lot to this..

RIP

I suppose we should blame Enke's death on this too?

Why is it that every time a player dies, somebody here starts blaming the game before a cause of death is even known. No players' death has been linked to his physical activity.

Also, considering how many players there are in the world (think about how every country has hundreds of teams), I don't think we're seeing an unusual amount of deaths, they've just been recognizable names lately.

RIP

well according to some rumors De Nigris was already warned about his heart condition when he played for Turkish club, Ankaraspor. but his choice was to keep playing....

Many of these deaths are due to congenital diseases in the heart... Cardiomyopathy for example. Mikos Feher, Foe and Antonio Puerta all died of cardiomyopathy. It could've been precipitated by any type of physical strain e.g. climbing up the stairs. Not really related to football. The thing with these diseases is that it is without symptoms... So they are hard to detect.

RIP De Nigris. So sad to see players die at such a young age... :(

What do you mean?

i mean his previous team Ankaragucu's doctors warned him that he'll possibly have heart problems..and after De Nigris' manager and lawyer didnt care , Ankaragucu terminated De Nigris' contract..so, he continued playing and dead at the age 31 ..

people should listen what the doctors tell them..
