Yeah, Silva as winger would be a no, too. You want him in the middle, whether by drifting in or as a number 10. Anyway, 2 MCs with defense duties is bad. Think about it, you have 6 players being cautious and staying back (support FBs will attack, but still), and your attack is disconnected. Change on MC to attack or support, at least.
Yeah, I normally had 5 players on attack and one as support, but for some reason I would give up some dumb ass goals from my CM getting caught up. Same with the defense before I switched to stopper/cover. I want to play attractive but I also don't want to concede, but I've been having trouble finding a medium.
You can't have your attack with attacking duties and your midfield with defensive ones (defend, not support, support is fine) and expect good results, the gap will be too wide. In essence, you want to have a combination of attack, defend and support across all lines, so, for example: CBs on defend, FBs on attack, meaning they move in line with the midfield and even beyond, linking defense with midfield and even attack. 2 MCs, one on defend, staying back and linking with the defense, and 1 on support, moving around the middle 3 and linking midfield to everything. Above that, whether wingers, strikers, or attacking mids, they can all be attack, but that's if you're going to spend most of your time pegging the opposition back, otherwise, someone should get a support role to make sure there isn't a gap between midfield and attack. Basuically, you want to cover all the levels to make sure there's always passing angles and you can always transition quickly from one phase to the next. Having everyone defending, and 2 people attacking means you'll HAVE to long-ball it or the opposite is true too, your defenders will be caught isolated when defending.
The latest Tactical Frameworks and Theorems used this as an underlying philosophy in their tactical musings/advice.
I played against Man U, which made a bit nervous, but pulled it out.
I was happy, but that went away quick when I saw the round of 16 draw.
****. Not winning the group is gonna cost me.
I decided I wasn't done spending, so I went and tried to buy Gotze, but apparently he's out of reach even for Man City.
I got my consolation price, which will cover for Yaya since he's going to the CAN.
I'm already having buyer's remorse, though. Through two games he has been useless, and he says the language barrier will be a big deal. Not sure how long it'll take him to adapt, or if he even will at all.

So ******* Man U doesn't lose... and then they drew to Fulham, and I drew to Swansea. ******* frustrating game. I hit the post four times. FOUR TIMES! So I lost my chance to catch up. Man U plays Arsenal and Arsenal wins 2-1. I play Spurs and have a chance to cut into the lead... but I go down 2-0 and I'm getting dominated. Time to mail it in, right?
Yaya the beast strongly disagrees!
Table as it stands now:
I might be out of the running still, but maybe this kind of win can spark something special... plus I still play Man U in a few weeks, so there's still hope.
Yeah, I'll have to try that. I seem to concede quickly or struggle badly scoring on the road. Maybe I'm being too aggressive.
Anyway, in the offseason I ended up getting rid of Tevez (said he was unhappy despite requesting to be taken off the transfer list two times and me giving him plenty of first team chances and him being average at best), Bridge, Adebayor, Hargreaves and Kolo Toure.
Mostly as a reinforcement, and he had a good season. Nasri tore his ACL in the first preseason game, so I was forced to buy someone quick. Di Maria was first choice, but Man U snapped him up before me.
To rotate with De Jong and maybe Yaya. A slight upgrade although I've always been a fan of Yaya, so he'll most likely be first choice unless he really stinks it up.
He was like number 5 in the "elite target striker I wanted" list... RVP wasn't interested, Cavani wasn't either, and Napoli didn't want to sell Willian. Depending how he does, he will be rotated with Aguero... and the odd man out barring injury is probably Dzeko since he's a bit one-dimensional.
And then the homer signing.
Also for depth. I'll try to play him whenever possible, which will most likely mean cup games and CL games, and a few games here and there if I decide to rest my starters.
