Your team of the decade?

AsmodaiPlay

Reserve Team
Mine would be:

Buffon

J.Zanetti, Cannavaro, Maldini, R.Carlos

Figo, Xavi, Zidane, Ronaldinho

Henry, Ronaldo

I wish Zidane and Figo still played, awesome. Zidane in particular was amazing to watch.

Both Lampard and Gerrard were driving THE driving force behind their club teams during the 2000s...in particular from 2003 onwards. The same can't be said about Zinedine Zinedine.
How about for England?

Fact.

He played well at the World Cup, and his won. He didn't deserve it, but that's how the trophies go most of the time, that doesn't make him an overrated defender for the decade, he really was good.

Ronaldo became World's best player in 2002 with playing 7 matches in a world cup (and I believe Rivaldo and Ronaldinho played better in some matches). He didn't play much for Inter because he was injured. Same goes for Zidane in 1998.

I'm not going to say that they didn't deserve it but the fifa world player goes to Best Player of World cup and especially its final, regardless of what happened during club season.

In 2006 Ronaldinho helped Barca to win LaLiga and UCL but he finished third to Cana and Zidane because of those World Cup.

I think World Cup has it's own award for best player so Fifa World Player of the year award should be about the impact in whole season.

Without any individual team titles, Pele would be one of the all-time greats.

Question: What pushed him over the top and made him the greatest?
Answer: The 3 World Cups.

I see no mention of the words "club" or "international". Therefore it would be a combination of the 2.

I think his point was, that 'till the moment Zidane retired, he was always the driving force for the French national team, winning matches by himself if needed, and leading them to World Cup 98 and Euro 2000 victories. Lampard and Gerrard haven't done that.

Not all can be judged by purely statistics - the goals you've scored and the titles you've won - sometimes you just have to think for yourself.

I'd start Mido (2001/2002 end of season version) ahead of Babel ... or even Andy Van der Meyde (from circa 2002-2003) ... other than that, the team looks good ...

Thats the point. Gerrard and Lampard failed to bring their national team forward but were successful for their respective clubs. Whereas Zidane did BOTH (brought both his clubs and national team forwards). This is what brings him above these other 2.

The 90's,people like talk about Who's bigger between Jordan and Ronaldo? At that moment,Jordan=Basketball.Phenomenon ronaldo=Football.

Who's bigger -- Jordan or Ronaldo?

The original question, verbatim, from an ESPN survey formerly at
The month of June will likely be dominated by two athletes -- Michael Jordanand Ronaldo. Both are the focal points of team favored to win championships. Both are at the top of sports that are among the most popular around the world. But who's bigger? Who has more fans? Screaming teenage girls? Moreendorsements? In the U.S., you don't hear much about Ronaldo because soccerdoesn't have the same level of popularity as basketball. But is it adifferent story elsewhere? Make your case for who's bigger on a worldwide scale, especially if youlive overseas or have spent time in a country where people are familiar withRonaldo and Jordan. Fill out the form below and be as specific as possiblewhen comparing the two athletes, using whatever numbers or anecdotes you canthink of. According to USA ESPN:
