wtf is up with the passing system?

why is it that if i run up with a defender and i'm on one line with the midfield, i press down + pass and he sends the ball back to the defence? IT PISSES ME OFF! It's like they made it so the defenders pass only to defenders! why couldn't they leave the passing system from fifa 2003?

Why press down + pass? Are you using End to End camera? Press the direction of the player you want to pass to.

i play the default camera, I have a midfielder and press forward + upward and pass, he passes the ball to the striker not the midfielder thats in the upper right corner of the screen....

I found something like that to. They doesn't always pass where you want them to... Maybe it needs adjustment maybe it will always be like that sometimes.

Fifa2005 gives us an additional manual way to pass and that is via the L1 modifier. Pressing this button in conjunction with the PASS button allows you to power up a manual "through" pass which when released will travel in the direction (0-360 degrees) you have Left Analog held during this powering up regardless of your current facing and speed.

The only problem I have noticed with this default configuration is that sometimes when action is a little hectic or tight, sending players on runs via the L1 button followed by a normal pass may register as the new "through" pass instead... gimping what you thought was a normal pass.... So be very precise and practice timing to make sure you can differentiate the new "through" pass vs. just a simple give and go (pass, player run, pass back).
