Wingman Cordless: How do I activate In-Game Management & Z, R2 & L2 Buttons working?

I've been screwing around with button mapping in the config file all night and for the life of me I can't get the In-Game Management to work with my Wingman Cordless. I know WHERE to do the button mapping in the config file but I don't know HOW or WHICH ORDER to put the button commands in.

Here is my controller listed in the config:

So if I want to get 12 buttons to work instead of just 10, I would change the first "10", the one in bold, correct? How would I get the "Z" button to work?? No matter what I do, button Z (button 6) is not recognized, and niether is the R2 and L2 buttons.

Even if I can't change ANY of those settings, is there a button combination for the Cordless Wingman to activate In-Game
Mangement with the default settings?

And yes, I've done a search here but I can't find these specific answers.

I have the same Gamepad you have m8.
Sometimes it is really annoying to deal with this gamepad settings. I hate it when it gets messed up.
What I do everytime I have a problem with it is take the cd that came with it when i bought it and install its software.

That fixes the settings sometimes.
I had to deal with the annoying settings of this gamepad m8. Hope you fix your problem

Ive got button 6 working, but I cant get IGM either. Here is my Config.dat, created from FIFA 2004 and then copied to CProgram Files\EA SPORTS\FIFA 2005\data\system.

with the settings i have, its L1 and C for in game management. Button config is as follows - pass/select =a , shoot/tackle=b slide/lob=x , thruball = y , sprints = r1 , player runs = L1 , OTB=z the other one=c , cant have modifier and otb at the same time. doeas my head in, I want to set the modifier button as r2 but suffer the same as you guys. sloppy programming, I tried messing with the config file but why should I. If i go into mcdonalds and buy a cheesburger, i expect a cheesburger, with gurkin, a bun, some sauce. If i buy fifa, and I have done every year since 97 i expect to at least be able to pick how I want to set up my control pad. Im less worried about their being 6 million kits.

Thanks for your replies but...

I wanna shoot myself!! I had it! I was finally able to get the "Z" button functional and working. I used it for speed burst and I also had the IGM working too. BUT I LOST IT!! When I had it working, I copied that command line to notepad in case something happened.

But I had to get cute so I set the reset the configuration to default to see if I could change a few button commands and now I can't get it back! AAHHHH!! Goddammit! Even when I copy and paste the command line it just doesn't stick. "Z" is not recognized again no matter what I do.

I hate to do this but I wonder if a reinstall in needed. I copied the original config before tweaking so I have the original settings but I cannot get "Z" or IGM to work. I don't know exaclty what I did when I got it to work the first time but I cannot repeat it.

I don't understand how u guys had such difficulty, the only difficulty i had with this controller is that the FIFA 2005 menu doesn't recognise it. But the buttons worked fine.. C was my L2 btw, L1 was off the ball selection, R1 - run, R2 was inactive, z - skill moves, y- through ball, x- player run, c- shoot , b- pass and a-lob by default.

no offene mate but you have c listed twice as a function unless ive read it wrong. Ive found that no matter what combo of buttons you pick, L1 and C brings up the IGM. ive also managed to get L! as the modifier and got players runs assigned to Z, Ive lost the player runs button but all else seems to work ok, i do get the feeling that Im still missing part of the game though, would like to have all buttons working so I can map them how I want them, maybe too much to ask lol, I mean why would I want to use all 12 buttons when 10 will do

Using default config.ini L1+L2= Ingame Management

Button Z= Z

Works perfect. No problems here.

Maybe reinstall to restore original config.dat or restore it from a backup.

Failing that install FIFA 2004 and 1.1 patch, manually set up controls, exit game, copy config.dat from 2004 to 2005.

Hope it works!

Yeah I found out how to get all in-game commands to work now.

But the thing that bothers me with the IGM to work by pressing "L1 + L2" is that the directional pad is not functional.
You have to use the left analog stick to change your strategy and this also moves your player out of position usually.

I also have the Dual Action controller and I know that you can use the directional pad to change your strategy and player movement is not affected. Unfortunately, the Dual Action controller is total crap.


I love this Cordless Wingman and I wish there was an easier way to activate all the commands with it for this game.

Can someone please send me the config.dat file from fifa 2004 (after 1.1 update). I sold the game in order to buy 2005, who would have thought that i would need it just to get my controller to work properly, lol...

Until now I could not succeed getting L2 and R2 to work. I can´t remap the buttons at all and I have to play all the time with the original mapping of EA.

Both of my Pads work properly in the game but I can´t change the configuration of the buttons.
I have already looked, and both of my Pads appear unter /Fifa2005/Data/System/config.dat:

I can play but in the game, in the options menu for configuration I just get shown Keyboard and MS Multimedia Keyboard angezeigt..not even one of my pads

I read a lot of threads already and my pads are both even mentioned in the manual. I tried with logitech drivers and even without but no change.

I even changed the names of the pad later on in the registry so that they match the exact name in the first config.dat but nothing changed

I can play with the from EA assigned buttons, but I cannot change anything of the mapping...

I have already tried to change the numbers 4 and 7 in order to use L1 as modificator and X for OTB
