Windows wont load!!!!!

I put in a new ram chip and now my computer doesnt load up windows, it says "windows did not load successfully possibly due to a recent hardware or software change" sumting like that.
I took it out and it still doesnt work!!! Gives me the same message with a couple options,

1)Safe mode
2)Safe mode with networking
3)Safe mode with command promt

4)load with prevoius settings (your last setting that worked)
5)Load windows normally

When i choose one of these options, the computer just freezes!!

What can i do to fix this??

BTW; My cpu is a Dell 4300, 1.4 ghz , 256 RAM

It can hold up to 512mb, i was upgrading from 256mb to 384mb and it gave me that message. So i took it back out and i am getting the same message.
