why is it when you create or install a tournament cmp, the tourney nevers works ?

it always crashes for some reason. i used wmp09 as a base then loaded its dbs into cm09 & made a national teams cmp of 200+ teams, they work fines.

then made a cmp of a few tourneys, confederations cup, 3 world cup 2010 tourneys, CONCACAF Gold Cup, CONMEBOL Copa America, UEFA European Championship. yet they all crash, whats going on ?

im gonna try & create them myself & see what happens.

any ideas why would be nice.

Tournaments

Hey Regularcat did you ever find a solution for making tournaments? I keep trying to make the CONCACAF Gold Cup but it keeps crashing on the new tournament loadup screen.

One thing that helps is to build the tourny One stage at a time. Also, makes sure you have a trophy graphic loaded or it will crash. I'll post more soon. at the moment I cant access the site from my network and no one at soccergaming is responding to me. I'm typing this from my phone...

Oh, also... if anyone is interested, I have a few projects I'm always looking for help with... I'll show you some editing stuff and we'll add all names to any patches made together. :P

Wow, well that's weird... I managed to get the Gold Cup working so I'm good with that! I would like to make the Confederations cup 2009 and the CONCACAF champions league for FIFA 2010 since I can't seem to find these tournaments on .cmp anywhere at all

Post any bugs You're coming across and I'll do my best to answer. Still can't log on site with my computers. Phone only.

In general, you want to build a stage, then test it then build another stage and test it.

Plug in some teams to test each stage out.

Make sure there is enough time for the games to be played. I set every day of the week to "always". You'll still find that manager mode will play about two games per team per week.

My advice is to ignore when a tournament is really played in real life and Just ensure that there is ample time to fit in the games. Knockout stages with only 1-off matches will take only a week. If you have a home-and- away retu you might want to give them an extra week.

Group stages of 3 or more teams get at least two weeks. In general, take the number of games a team will have to play and give them half that number of weeks to fit them in. Maybe a little more than half for manager mode.

If You're building a league, make sure the tournament ID, asset ID and league ID (this is in the league window) all match. They don't always have to but it makes things a little easier.

Okay, thanks alot regularcat your alot of help. I am getting familiar with with most of the randomization problem and have fixed it. In the gold cup tournament I fixed that problem I just had problem with not enough days for tournaments because I tried to make it like the real dates, that's where i went wrong. thanks alot for your help.

YEa, with bigger tournaments, the random problem is really hard to work around. BUt It's doable I think

Hey man, since me and champion757 have been working on perfecting 90:00 matches to be as realistic as possible I have had the idea of making some cinematics longer or inserting some cinematics from other soccer games into fifa 10 to have eye candy while the clock runs down. Its to make the game more of a broadcast match and help make the game feel more playabe since its for an hour and 30 min. real time. haha


Would you know anything about fifa 10 cinematics?

haha your telling me, thanks anyways man. The thing is we have been putting all of our effort on ai.ini and CM10 sliders to make 90:00 matches as realistic as possible. So far i've been getting realistic scores like, 3-0, 2-1, 2-2, 3-1, 4-2 (rare I get 4 goals) with a running clock. It would be so much better if we had longer stops in play like in real matches to make up for the game feel that is FIFA 10. It could be so much better if I manage to add some longer cinematics lol

There's alot of things you can do to lower the goals in ai.ini. From what I have experienced is messing with SHOT_ASSISTED_ANGLE = 60
SHOT_NEARMISS_ANGLE = 90

These are default by EA I believe in most FIFA games and what I use is assisted angle 9 and shot nearmiss angle 90, its real nice alot of dramatic misses and balls that hit the post alot. Try those angles and see if you get any lowered scores.

Also, in CM10 for whatever team that you are using the easiest thing you can do is set the aggressiveness of the team to 10, I use 1 because for 90:00 matches I don't want the defense to hassel me as if there's only 20 min a full match. Try 10 for aggression, width (50-55, because I believe its how much the players are close to each other in the back line, it's tougher defense to penetrate), turn on zone defense and clearence only for defense tacticts, and set them to COVER in defend line. You might also want to try setting the speed slider to 10 because in my opinion the slow speed EA default is still pretty fast and its harder to defend CPU attacks so setting it to 10 for 8 min matches should be real nice.

Most important of all the for the shooting slider set it to 10 and if you still get high scores set it to 1, in 90:00 matches the highest I get 4 goals so I'm very curious to see how many goals are scored in 8 min matches. From what I have seen players take their time when they shoot and in alot of cases they opt out to pass back instead of firing it at the gk to try to beat him. Same thing goes for the crossing slider, sometimes they are very smart about their crosses instead of just crossing randomly. If all else fails try turning off (unticking) all attack tacticts, build up to organized and team mentality to defensive to the teams you are playing and see what happens.
