why is it so hard to be good at FIFA?

First of all, I have FIFA 09. I have to say that on both offense and defense, the AI players are retarded. You basically have to use the trigger run every time to tell the players what to do, which makes it that much harder.

Tell me, is there another PC game out there that has smoother gameplay, smarter AI players? Dribbling in FIFA is like skating; you have to plan everything .5 seconds ahead, or you'll get beat...

I'd like to wait for FIFA 2011, but I'd rather stick with an older game that has fewer requirements and options. It's just easier to work with. Plus, I don't need all the options like be a pro season, having 62 different stadiums, or having 2 star teams that nobody cares about.

IS there such a game out there?

well that's one of the things that makes the fifa game a good game in my point of view if all the AI players where a bit better u would be just watching the game or playing fifa manager (where you basically just sit and watch and modify the formations without directly interacting in the games like in normal fifa) it's the decision making what turn the tides of the games like you said if you don't call the other AI player you would be stuck alone in the offense or defense, so knowing what to do at the right time is what wins games :)

and honestly I have played other soccer games and never got the real soccer feeling like i do in the fifa series, but that's just me hehe.

P.S. maybe a bit more of positioning for the AI side wouldn't hurt, from the EA devs I mean.
