Who are the best British players on Football Manager 2007?

I have started the game as Birmingham City.
I need good players who will help me gain promotion and still be good in the Premiership and Europe. Preferably British and Irish born players, all positions.
Also any good set piece takers and Captains?
I'm grateful for any suggestions
