actually i don't have any sergio mendes & brasil '66 album. i know their music due to friends who got some records. well, i know most of these "classic" brazilian artists' "through my friends'" - it may sound weird, but it's damn hard to find many of their albums... here in brazil!!
the record companies have the rights on these artists' works but they don't (re-)release them neither on cd or lp format. usually, the only way to find these kind of albums is searching hardly for the original lp, released like 30, 40, 50 years ago
the companies here release just some crap collections. you know, that kinda "best of" with a poor insert and a horrible cover.
on the other hand, many of these almost-impossible-to-find-here albums are easily found in some countries. in cd format! i dunno where you live...

well i was typing all this stuff above when i decided going to amazon.com to search for sergio mendes there. and there are lots of albums on sale! like i've said, these records are available only in non-brazilian edition.
if you consider getting a compilation, i think the best ones are "four sider", "the very best of" and "gratest hits of brasil '66".
talking about original albums, i'd say "herb alpert presents" (debut), "equinox", "look around" and "fool on the hill".
