I've come to like it more and more each time I play. I don't use any of the cheap tactics to score and I have started to never use the "turbo" button and it makes the gameplay much much better. Defense is still horrid and braindead at the worst possible times and that is all on EA and their coding.
There is a decent game in FIFA 07, it just takes a lot of patience and allowing yourself not to hate the defensive AI.

To add to this, I am suspect of the shooting mechanism. It seems way too random when you aim, coupled with always hitting a lofted shot. Should be able to hold LB or LS while shooting to keep the ball low. Maybe in 08.
