That's a joke, right? I mean, I guess if your qualifications for "best so far" are completely losing control of the game, handing out stupid yellow cards, and just plain not paying attention a good chunk of the time, then yeah, he's brilliant. I suspect he'll be joining Graham Poll and the Uruguayan on the sidelines. Again, I may not have been picking up on sarcasm in your post, if so, my apologies.

By the way, I find it interesting that despite the plethora of awful referee performances, the one FIFA has publicly singled out for review is Poll's screw-up with the yellow cards. Yeah, that was dumb, but it didn't affect the outcome of the game, unlike some of the other blunders. FIFA has honed in on that one because it's easy, it makes them look like their doing something about their referees who are franly running amok.

What did you guys expect him to do?
Disappear?


There were on this game:


- Blantant-studs up fouls trying to injure players.
- Clear red-card offense sliding-tackles.
- Elbows to the face.
- Headings to the face.
- Punches to the face.
- Shoving out of play.
- Flying kicks to the upper body.
- Clear yellow-card offense dives. (You know who I'm talking about... ;) )
- Bad sportsmanship.
- Indiscriminate use of the hands to stop/control the ball.

Do I need to continue?


This game can practically cover the entire FIFA Training DVD.

one of the best games yet.

watching the portugal vs netherlands game, i didnt know whether to laugh or cry at what the referee was doing.
being a neutral fan i was kept to the edge of my seat (didnt know what to expect every minute from the ref: a red/yellow).

definitely the best 1-0 win i have seen in a long time.

PS: awaiting fifas action against FIGO headbutting van bommel

If Ivanov had sent off the guy who injured Ronaldo like he should, on the 8th minute, the match would have been much less violent. But since he got away with, players got out of control.

Agreed. While Ivanov wasn't perfect and not fully in control of the match, the players are to blame. Being Dutch, I'm ashamed of 'our' players and the Portuguese should be as well. A disgrace to football. Very few of the cards Ivanov handed out were questionable ( maybe Boulahrouz' second yellow), and perhaps more should be handed out.

that isnt a fact Funky--K imho...maybe the dutch would get even more pissed, and there would be just as much pushing and shoving. some things cant be predicted in life :).
