good game from what I hear...best so faR?

no way, worst game so far after England-Paraguay.. Ivory Coast pretty much went to sleep between the time Argentina made it 2-0 and when Drogba scorred..

Good game by Argentina. Awesome stuff by Sorin!! :rockman: Argentina took their chances and made the best from it. The only thing that worries me is Perkerman's football ideal. Instead of subbing in Lucho, he should have put in Messi or Tévez to make another goal or two and seal off the game. Instead he decides to put Argentina in a defensive mode and it ends up costing us. Another thing Pekerboy should have done was to sub in Riquelme for Aimar sooner. At the end it seemed that Riquelme was really tired.

I still thoroughly enjoyed myself watching it, though.

Watching a couple of the Ivorians' qualifiers, I thought that the gap between these two countries would be immense, but this game proved to me that these mother******* Ivorians can play with the best of 'em.

Did u not see the Poland vs Equador game? that was the worst game so far... i cudnt wait for the 90mins to be up so i cud watch something else on TV lol.

Ok the England game wasnt very good... but wasnt the worst so far.

Unlucky that IC didnt make more of their chances, but it shows that if u take ur chances thats all that matters.

Good start to this World Cup competition so far overall, man. I'd give it a 7.5 out of 10 on the drama/excitement scale.

BTW, if anyone has a link to Saviola's goal, please do post it. I wanna see just how passive he was in that play.......upon further rumination in my head of that goal, it looked like he was too close to the play to be passive.

Told ya it was going to be a tough match.:jap:

Well good play on the first half, however there was a bit of disorder between Mascherano and Cambiasso which remained on the second half, Palacio didn't really do anything, Sorin, Ayala, Maxi and Saviola were the best, probably with Tevez coming in, and keeping Saviola/Crespo and Riquelme the score could've been wider, but eh it's the first match, they can appear later if needed, heh funny to see Crespo crying on the second goal.:funny:

They do like risks since Heinze played with one goal for like the last 15 minutes.

I don't get why they shown yellow card to Lucho Gonzalez for that foul when the ivorians made many fouls like that or worse and didn't get booking. And if Drogba didn't get penalty unfairly then Argentina got unfairly disallowed the goal of Ayala.:jambo:

Didn't really like Argentina playing on defense, bringing on Tevez and remain with the same mentality would have been better but oh well.

Abbondanzieri didn't screw up and was actually good.:rockman:
They couldn't get over Ayala on the defense.:rockman:
Argentina won in the most of the heads.:rockman:
Sorin and Maxi Rodriguez.

Moving on to the next match.:ewan:

newbie original

We apologize for keeping the yellow too long
Yellow Card
took the foot off the gas in the 2nd and should have blown that two goal lead. Leading up to the Drogba goal, there was about a 10 minute spell when Riquelme refused to move the ball up the field..instead produced backpass after backpass to Cambiasso...pathetic..specially with Tevez and Messi on the bench! Also, quite a few Argentine players, especially that substitute fellow Palacios, had problems with either their boots or the field because they were slipping all over.

Ivory Coast is very good team..They was just unlucky..They are not beaten by Argentina they are beaten by Riquelme's 2 passes..

Yeah, Argentina's midfield was the weakest link of the team in my opinion. They really did swallow you guys up in the middle of the pitch.

and the s.h.i.t ref who favoured Argentina without a doubt. WTF happened to Fifa's new rules for shirt pulling, diving and kicking opponents? :nape:

Yep, I don't know what Pekerman was thinking. Like I said, I would have substituted Román for Aimar a bit earlier. Put in Messi in for Saviola. The best way to defend is to attack IMO...

Geez, you can't say the referee favoured Argentina after seeing Gonzalez's yellow card compared to most of the fouls that the ivorians did.:nape:

But i believe after this, Pekerman won't go into defensive playing anymore.
With Ayala and Heinze being so presistent in defense we won't have troubles, although Burdisso role should be improved. Sorin did fine what he had to do.

Bullsh*t.

The waiting is over...the first match is over, and we won...!!! I think its the most important thing...step by step, little by little...

Best of Argentina was Abondanzzieri, Ayala, Heinze, Riquelme, Crespo and Saviola...

The Man of the Match was Roberto Ayala.

We had a lot of problem in the Midfield. Mascherano, Cambiasso and Maxi had a regular game.

And the great news are that our strikers had a great game and they scored...

Ivory Coast had a great game, Sokora is an amazing player. And of course Didier Drogba, pure spirit and sacrifice for the team. I really wish that they go to the 2nd round becouse they play offensive football...

Ivorian players are very strong and fast... they deserved a draw AT THE VERY LEAST...

But anyway, credit to Argentinian forwards... they sure can score goals!!!
Unlucky IC, but soccer it's also about this kind of stuff... :nape:

Forget it, we are going to beat Ivory Coast on friday. They play well but our boys possess lots more class and individual quality so I'm confident we will take them with Ruud, Robben and van Persie up front, defense was poorly for CIV and the attack..?? Well only Drogba really impressed me as I knew he would but other than that.. Arouna Kone should've been brought in sooner by Michel.
Argentina wasn't as impressive as I thought they would be, I think we have chances against them if we play well.

Also got to point out that Kone made an interesting difference when he came into the field.
I believe Maxi Rodriguez was quite good on the right just like Sorin on the left.
But nevermind, this match taught us that we must not understimate these teams like the europeans have been doing so far, fortunately we didn't have to lament a defeat, because the team did what they had to do on the first half.
Argentina can do better with these players, and specially if Aimar, Tevez and Messi get to play together, just look what we left on the bench.

Ah yeah, Argentina won because of the referee, tsk tsk.:boohoo:
