USA National Team Thread

Make America Great Again
Why would CONCACAF shift their Gold Cup to accommodate the one nation that routinely plays in another confederation's cup?

in a world where the US and Mexico both understand the importance of testing their best teams against the best of South America? because CONCACAF's two biggest soccer nations demand it!

Face it, the Gold Cup is a Mickey Mouse cup no matter how important they make it seem and try to dress it up it's still inferior to Copa America.

To be fair, he wasn't just dominant against his own age group, he played up several years for the youth national teams.

I knew a guy who played against him in some national team camps at the U-15 level. Adu had just turned 12. Said he was the best player he'd ever seen.

I could probably play in the Finnish 4th Division.

If you've played football, definitely. Think my hometown team plays 4th or 5th division, and I've had a bunch of friends play there.

Only because the quality of players from Central America and the Carribean nations aren't up to par.

The USA, Mexico, Costa Rica have quality players and are ranked in the top 30 in the world, the rankings may not be something that means a whole lot but
they still have them ranked higher than 60% of the UEFA nations.

If these countries had more money they would have better systems to come up in and be able to compete with the nations who already have these quality systems starting at youth levels.

Watching the Haiti match...this US team is piss fucking poor.

edit
But truth be told, the haitians aren't exactly a weak ass opponent. A bit too innocent but they do have talented players up front and their counter-attacks are insanely fast. In case they weren't so clumsy in the final touch I could see them being a real threat to the main contenders throughout the competition.

I really think Jozy's days should be numbered at this point. Johansson, Deuce, and Zardes are just better than him. I can't see Jozy scoring on that chip Aron did against Cuba. I'm encouraged by the US team right now, but have some issues with the defense (I really only trust Besler and Brooks), Beckerman (really just isn't good enough), and oddly enough Bedoya who seems to be consistent, but not a tremendous talent.

On the other hand, I think Klinsi needs to stop screwing around and just play Yedlin and Johnson as the FBs because clearly they are two of the best guys on the team. Would also like to see Mix a little more, but that's hard if you have Zardes behind Deuce and Johansson.

Curious about Danny Williams. Wish he was fit for the Gold Cup, because he could be the future of the DM position. We need someone there.

catching up on all the Gold Cup highlights ...

the #DareToJozy joke is way outdated, which shows how long ago his days should have been numbered, counted down, and settled ...

I'll be interested to know if Jamaica's Copa América exposure, where they only lost by a solitary in each game, gives them an edge as the competition progresses ...

still trying to comprehend what Deuce tearing up the goalscoring charts means in the grander scheme of US Soccer's future ...
