Hey bro, how's life treatin' ya? (H)

I've been bodybuilding a few years now and have got some pretty good mass on my frame. I used to play football all the time and got some really good upper-body strength to the point where I was stronger than guys 2x my size, I could out-run them naturally and knock them off the ball. But alas, I'm much too heavy to run at those speeds now. But I certainly pack more power in a shoulder barge hahaha. but I don't play football no more. American football though!!

But yes, upper-body strength. Eat protein and good carbs. Do cardio to keep you light on your toes and pushups, situps and if you wanna get a little more advanced, try chinups/pullups to lift your bodyweight and get some lean muscle on your frame. Once you start on weights, don't lift too heavy for few reps, or else you will bulk up. Instead, you will want endurance training, in which a moderate weight for more reps will be better to strengthen tendons and bones that will aid you with your upper-body mass and strength. Football is certainly endurance for jostling and you don't see many big football players'. Not compared to someone who trains for size like American footy players'. Your upper-body should be built for speed AND strength. Unlike me sacrificing one for the other!!:nape:

Look at C.Ronaldo. The kid isn't big, but he's cut and very quick. In fact I heard the man-utd players' get very frustrated as they can't train against him cause of his speed. But he's got more lean muscle then most of them. And that's how you want to be. It'll make you be able to take more and give more! Most football players' can push and give, but as soon as they get barged off the ball, they go down and end up injured!

PM me if you want, I'm just rushing this. but if you want more info feel free to ask or head over to http://www.teenbodybuilding.com and check out the teen forums. If you register and tell them what you want to train for and your goals, those guys will sort you out and be polite. You only get the odd troll and they'll tell them to f*ck off...or you can! lol.

Take care bro,
NK.

You're welcome.

You're welcome mate. Good luck with the training.

Also, if your idea is to get ripped, or cut faster. Then say on cardio days, before you run or do situps, etc. Try to cut down on your carb in-take, as working out for cardio will see your body burn carbs first, which is good for energy, but if you know you can stand it, eat a good protein meal instead as your body will then go to your FAT sources, and after the workout you can have healthy carbs for energy. That way the cardio did more good and you still get to relax without feeling like you want to vomit!

Also, try a technique that will keep your body guessing. If you are jogging, mix up the speeds. If you run at the same speed for too long your body becomes reluctant to burn as many calories, whereas jogging, then sprinting, then giving it ALL you've got, then slowing down some, then speeding up. Well, your body doesn't know what's happening and your cardio will be more affective. Another word for this is HIIT cardio. It'll get your heart-rate up!

Again, good luck and best wishes.

NK.

thanks again, it's really helpin me a lot hearing all this. i go to the gym twice a week and play football twice so that should be balanced enough i guess.

NK, the guy's playing football. I don't think its a good idea that he reduces his carb intake. I agree with you about the method of training but with all the cardio and football that he's doing, its not a good thing to reduce carb's. WHere will he be gettin the energy from? Fat? And if its already low?
