I have all this settings, but it doesn't work for me. The game crashes, but If i set calstart_year 2015 in cmsettings.ini, it doesn't crash.

@erievon, can you send me your settings.txt and cmsettings.ini, please ?

EDIT: Nevermind, all you need to do is save settings.txt manually after every edit with CM14... somehow if you have already set up manually 2020 for Euro and 2019 for Copa America and after that you make some changes in compdata via CM14, 2020 and 2019 remain in settings.txt, but the career will crash.

Sorry for Luis Figo I did not not connect to this forum for long time. I you want I can send the file.
Now I try to make the season start in 2017, I will try to modify the setting file, does anyone know wich years I have to write in the file Game\dlc\dlc_FootballCompEng\dlc\FootballCompEng\d ata\compdata\settings.txt ?

I know this thread is kinda old but, well... Please, anyone willing to explain a complete noob (at least in editing the DB and the competition structure) how to have the career mode start in 2018?
Fresh game, just installed. No mods and no Origin updates yet (will update the game via Origin if it's required for this to work, no problem).

I know there are some files out there that are made do it automagically, but I'd really love to learn how to do it myself.

It looks like I got it! OR, at least, career mode doesn't crash when I load it and I've been able to sim a single season (plus some days of the second one) without crashes.:bouncy:

Here are the changes I made should anyone need them (taken from the vanilla FIFA 14 game): I've tried to only edit the relevant starting dates and nothing else.

[DEFAULTS]

  • players.birthdate
  • players.playerjointeamdate
  • playerloans.loandateend
I also added 5 to the following column:
  • players.contractvaliduntil
So, basically, I shifted the entire database five years forward in time (so for example Messi was born in 1992 and joined Barcelona in 2009 in my current DB, I don't care as I'm going to replace all the players anyway so it was just a testing thing).

you have 3 steps to done for a start in 2014!

1. start CM and go to the script section. click on FIFA and change the year value from 2012 to 2014.

2. this step is importend!! go to the world cup and change the start year to 2018!



3. go to the cmsettings at: dlc\dlc_FootballCompEng\dlc\FootballCompEng\data

and change the calstart from 2013 to 2014.

How did you manage to start your career in 2020? I've changed the 'start year' values for competitions in settings.txt. However, on CM14, I could not set the start year past 2018 for any of the competitions. Is this why my game crashes when trying to start a career?
