Traits & Specialities

I am a big fan of editing, that's probably the main reason I was so faithful to PES series for all these years, but this year's game it's simply a disgrace so I've decided to convert back to Fifa series (last game I've played was 2002 WC!) and I can truly say that this was the best move I could do ;) Enough with the OT, now i would like to share with you my recent "discoveries" about fifa 12 db.

Traits
To edit them in database you have to change the values in column trait1 and/or trait2. Trait1 value is responsible for all traits on first list, and trait2 is only for team player, and one club player traits. Here is the list of the traits with values, which are they assigned to:

  • Long throw-in - 2
    Power Free-kick - 4
    Injury prone - 16
    Early cross - 4096
    Finesse Shot - 8192
    Flair - 16384
    Long passer - 32768
    Long shot taker - 65536
GK up for corners - 1572864
    GK long throw - 2097152
    Power Header - 4194304
    Giant Throw-in - 16777216
    Outside foot - 33554432
    Swerve Pass - 134479872

  • One club player - 512
    Team player - 1024
There are also some "empty" values like 8, 32, 64 etc. which basically gives nothing, and as far as I'm concerned they don't have any purpose (maybe someone more advanced in editing could enlighten me).

What you have to do is to put the correct value in trait1 or trait2 column to give the player the trait you want e.g. if you want player with power header you put 4194304 in trait1 column. With many traits you just have to add them up, e.g. Flair+Long Paser => 16384+32768=49152 and so on.

Specialities
I found something on official EA Sports Fifa 11 board, which I would like to qoute here because it explains everything about specialities in game:

These seem to be the main requirements for specialities for a player in Fifa 11. I apologise if the layout is hard to follow, but my main aim is to just get the information down. Thanks to the forum members whose suggestions helped me to concentrate on the things I missed the first time through, I'm now (almost 100%) confident that all players (created, or on the transfer market) match up with these requirements. Any questions, constructive criticism, ideas and especially spotted mistakes are welcome, I should get round to answering within a couple of days at the most. Hope this helps.
Note that the specialties listed here appear in the order a player would have them listed in-game. You can see which ones he has on the Specialities screen in Team Management.

Poacher: Finishing 85, Heading 75, Defence/Attack Workrates CANNOT BOTH be set to High. Any other combination is fine.

Speedster: Acceleration + Sprint Speed must come to a total of at least 180.

Aerial Threat: Height plays a part.
Heading 90 Jumping 85 (for players 6'2 and under)
Heading 90 (for players 6'3 or 6'4)
Heading 75 (for players 6'5 and over).

Dribbler: Either;
Level 5 Skill Moves and Dribbling 86, OR
Level 1-4 Skill Moves, Dribbling 86 and Balance 75.
Note: When creating a NEW player, his Dribbling and Agility stats affect his Skill level. An Agility of 76 or over ups his skills from 4 to 5 stars, negating the need for a good Balance stat.

Playmaker: Short Pass 86, Vision 86, Long Pass 73. Must have CDM, CM or CAM listed as one of his listed positions (it doesn't have to be his primary one though). NEEDED for Complete Midfielder.

Engine: 86 Stamina, Player Workrate High for both Defence and Attack on the Player Information Screen in their bio. This shows their DEFAULT Workrate, only this and their Stamina level determines whether they have this speciality or not. Although you can set their Workrate via Team Management, Formations, (then Edit Formation by pressing square for PS3, not sure for Xbox 360), Workrate- even if you set them both high from here and save it, their DEFAULT Workrate remains the same as it was originally, and if they didn't have Engine before, they still can't get it.
Created players in-game have theirs set to Medium by default and thus can't get the Engine speciality. For players created on-line via the Creation Centre, you can assign them high Defence and Attack Workrates, provided they have the 86+ Stamina too they will have Engine speciality once downloaded onto your console. For real-life players in game, only those with high DEFAULT workrates are able to get the Engine Speciality.

Distance Shooter: Shot Power + Long Shots totalling at least 174.

Crosser: Crossing 86, Curve 80.

FK Specialist: Either;
FK 86, plus 85 Curve (for curler specialists) OR
FK 86, plus 85 Shot Power (for driven free kick specialists).
Note that you only need to meet one of the two criteria for the speciality.

Tackling: Standing Tackle 86, Sliding Tackle 85. NEEDED for Complete Defender.

Tactician: Tactical Awareness 86, Reactions 80. NEEDED for Complete Defender.

Acrobat: Either;
Agility 90 (if Reactions are below 80) OR
Agility 86, Reactions 80 or above.

Strength: Weight plays a part.
Strength 90 (if player is 181 lbs or under)
Strength 86 (if player is 183 lbs or over)

Clinical Finisher: Finishing 86, Long Shots 80.

Complete Defender: 3 Specialities that compliment a defender. MUST HAVE TACKLING AND TACTICIAN plus any ONE of these; Aerial Threat, Acrobat, Strength.

Complete Midfielder: 3 Specialities that compliment a midfielder. MUST HAVE PLAYMAKER, plus any TWO of these; Dribbler, Engine, Distance Shooter, Crosser, FK Specialist, Tackling, Clinical Finishing.

Complete Forward: 3 Specialities that compliment a forward. Any THREE from Poacher, Speedster, Aerial Threat, Dribbler, Strength, Clinical Finisher.

So...any updates on this one? I've been trying to give a lot of them some traits. I want a great opponent in career mode.

Oh and yeah, @vicman12, regularcat knows what he's doing and saying.

You can open them with either the Creation Master 12 or the DB Master, both made by Rinaldo.
I would however recommend using the DB Master if you only want to edit traits because the Creation Master messes some traits up (mainly removing High Club Identification and Team Player from some players and adding them to other players).

You need the File Master 12 or the Texture Editor in order to extract the database from the data files.
