Tottenham Hotspur "Spurs" Thread [2012/2013]

Will Tottenham be stronger or weaker after selling Bale? Tottenham has bought Soldado who is a consistent goalscoring machine and Lamela who scored 15 goals last season. Bale scored 21 last season I think. They also got Eriksen and Paulinho. I personally think they are much better now. The team is more balanced.

at least you can say they are 11 man team now ...

Btw, just assume Real give up on this transfer ... spurs will go bankrupt!!!!

I also think they'll probably be stronger.
It also depends on how all of those new players are going to link up with each other. It may take some time, but AVB is a good manager and i'm sure he'll make it work.

Spurs know that Real Madrid NEED him as if their lives depend on him. AVB handled the situation very well.

I think they mostly signed a young group of players who are hungry for success and world cup place.

Spurs are definitely stronger now. They've gone from the fight for fourth to clear favorites for fourth, and potential to enter the title race.

IMO Spurs are great now, much better and balanced than last season, even with Bale gone. Really wish they could somehow win the PL or at least be a contender.

Whoever saw Lamela knows that kid is beyond special, Chiriches is a very very talented defender and Eriksen, well haven't seen much of him and when I did he was kinda underwhelming, but he is heavily hyped and maybe Villas-Boas can unbridle his true potential.

Add these 3 to the already great signings of Soldado, Paulinho, Capoue and Chadli and Tottenham had, by far, the best summer transfer market of all the PL clubs.

Oh and tits.
Well, thats true. I think they have done brilliant. That much money they got for Bale is just genius.

Don't really see much special in Eriksen but given the price and the supposed potential, thats a top class tranfer.

They have pretty strengthened all areas of squad very well.

Its going to really hard for me to watch Lamela play for Spurs.

Lloris > De Gea
Rose < Evra
Vertonghen > Vidic
Kaboul = Rio
Walker < Rafael
Paulinho > Carrick
Sandro > Cleverley
Lamela > Valencia
Chadli < Kagawa
Erikssen < Rooney
Soldado < Van Persie

Some are closer calls than others, obv. But I wouldn't be surprised if Spurs had a better season than ManU. Such a solid, all-around well built team. Their depth in midfield is insane. No clue who 5 they'll usually play.

You missed the most important aspects, the reasons why United always prove people wrong: Team chemistry, experience and winning mentality. Especially the last one.

If you did the same head to head comparisons of Man Utd vs Chelsea, Man City or Arsenal last season, I am sure all 3 teams would look better on paper but at the end of the day, the way a team plays together is the most important.

No SAF this year. I think that will be a big difference in the end.
