O Campeonato Português começa nesta quinta-feira sem seu principal artilheiro. Autor de 42 gols em 30 jogos em 2001/02, Jardel ainda não sabe se ficará no Sporting, embora a sua vontade seja sair. Alegando depressão por causa do fim de seu casamento, o atacante se isolou e espera pela decisão sobre seu futuro. Nesta entrevista, feita por e-mail, ele diz que gostaria de jogar hoje em sua terra natal com a Seleção Brasileira e se defende das acusações de ser um jogador instável, afirmando que é sempre assediado por clubes.

L!: Por declarações que saem na imprensa portuguesa, técnico e elenco do Sporting têm a impressão de que você não participará do Campeonato Português. O que você acha disso? Eles estão errados?

Jardel: Não sei se estão certos ou errados. Vamos dar tempo ao tempo.

L!: Quando estava em Portugal, você deixou claro que queria se transferir para o futebol turco. Na Turquia, enfatizou que queria voltar para o futebol português. No momento, a imprensa portuguesa noticia que você não quer ficar mais no Sporting. Você teme ficar marcado como um jogador instável?

J: O que pensam algumas pessoas pouco me importa. Sei é que sempre fui querido pela torcida por onde passei, e isso é o que vale. Saí e voltei de Portugal por vontade própria. Nunca disse que queria ir para a Turquia e acabou acontecendo. Quanto a voltar para Portugal, esta informação não procede. Afinal, quando saí do Galatasaray tive a oportunidade de ir para a França (Olympique de Marselha). Não sou instável. Sou apenas um jogador que recebe propostas.

L!: Na sua opinião, o que teria de acontecer para tornar ideal a temporada que está começando?

J: Nada. No ano passado ela já foi muito boa.

L!: Quais são os seus planos atualmente?

J: Estou estudando o melhor. Primeiro quero ficar bem comigo mesmo.

L!: Com a saída de Luiz Felipe Scolari, você volta a ter esperança de defender a
Seleção Brasileira?

J: Sempre tenho esperança de estar na Seleção Brasileira. Fico até meio chateado de não poder participar de uma partida festiva que acontecerá exatamente na minha terra (Fortaleza). Mas com ou sem o Felipão acho que terei outras oportunidades na Seleção, desde que esteja bem.

L!: Quais são suas principais qualidades como jogador? E defeitos?

J: Sou artilheiro e tenho facilidade para fazer gols. Os defeitos são muitos, mas são os torcedores que podem falar sobre eles.

That mofo! He's as good as a player as he is a clown. Some reporters surprised him yesterday leaving a restaurant and let me tell you how NOT disturbed he looked, for a guy that is on sick leave due to psychological reasons.
He answered, with rudeness, that he won't play in Sporting again.
Today he even gave an interview to a local newspaper, www.record.pt , where he criticizes everybody: team mates, coach, etc., etc.

I heard this rumour yesterday, from 2 different sources, that explained what really has happened. I won't write it here, though, since it's nothing but the word on the street.

People here really believes he´s getting and that he´s the "nice guy".

One thing I like about our newspapers is that they leave people's private lives alone. This means that probably we'll never know for sure what really happened and it'll all stay in the rumour possibility. Anyway, I'm sending you a pm with the whole story.

I pity the next team who signs Jardel, he's such a self centered cry baby ingrate...he's never been treated better than he has at Sporting, I can't beleive he wants to leave all of a sudden. He's totally spitting in the face of the country that made him the star he is today...he's not such a great player either, half his goals are PK's anyhow...no wonder Scolari left him off the WC team!

He says he already has an offer that he's going to take, nobody is saying from which club but I wish them good luck....actually I hope it's Barcelona, so Jardel can sit on the bench and maybe realize how good he had it at Sporting. I may be a Benfica fan, but what's right is right..

I think he is mad for not playing in a good league, he should not left Brazil to play in an inferior league. I think now he regrets, specially when he didnt get a chance to play in the WC

portuguese league doesnt give him much exposure, so he might be afraid of not geting called for the brazilian team this year

O atacante Jardel não quer mesmo ficar no Sporting. Em entrevista ao diário português "Record", ele acusou os dirigentes do clube de não cumprirem com a palavra dada de liberarem-no caso surgisse por um determinado valor.

O jogador garante que o Sporting já recebeu uma proposta assim e tem testemunhas para provar, entre elas o seu empresário José Veiga. Ele não quis revelar o nome do time, mas fala que não é o Barcelona. Mesmo assim, ainda confia nos portugueses.

-- Sempre admirei as pessoas da direção e espero que cheguem a um consenso e me deixem ir, porque estou decidido. Não quero mais jogar no Sporting.

Segundo Jardel, a decisão de deixar Portugal é pessoal. A depressão causada pelo divórcio da mulher, Karen, e a distância dos filhos influenciaram em sua atitude e ele acredita que só estará recuperado quando deixar o país. O atacante ameaçou até voltar ao Brasil caso não seja liberado.

O artilheiro falou também sobre o último mês em Lisboa, período em que esteve de licença médica. Ele esteve em repouso para se recuperar e manteve a forma correndo. Além disso, garante que esteve mesmo internado, fato que havia sido negado pelo Sporting.

Por fim, o brasileiro confessou ter ficado magoado com os seus companheiros, que desdenharam de seus problemas e disseram que ele não faria falta. Além disso, acusou a imprensa portuguesa de inventar várias notas mentirosas a seu respeito.

Why should he be mad about playing in the Portuguese league? It was his decision, and he's had plenty of offers to play in countries like Spain and France....

..And, if the Brazilian league is so superior to the Portuguese then why is the Portuguese first and second divisions over-run by Brazillian players, I wish more players wouldn't leave Brazil..

He wanna go. His team says he won´t go. I put together some news I´ve collected in brazilian websites to the guys from Portugal see and say if it´s the same thing they´re seen there cos the story is sooooooo confusing and no one understands nothinng at all.

Luis, please ignore that guy. He was obviously just trying to provoke us with the amount of non-sense that he wrote. Remember him saying he wasn't coming back?

I wonder why Jardel came to Porto, then moved to Gala, and then came back!!! He must really hate it here.

I just think Jardel is pissed. He thinks he deserves a chance in Brasil´s National team. And most brasilians that play in Portugal are not very well known here.

Face it Portugal doesnt have a great league and its not very known for exporting a lot of players to other leagues. I only say Brasil has a better league because we have a lot more young talents (no wonder our populations is 10x bigger), but like Portugal our clubs dont have enough money to keep our biggest stars playing here.

Plus if he wants to play for Brasil like he always talks about it would be much easier if he was playing home, dont know why but the media didnt gave much credit when he was a top scorer in portugal

Well, I've seen Jardel play for Brasil in the last Copa America, and he was absolutely useless...if I was head coach of Brasil, I probably wouldn't call him up either...half his goals are penalties anyhow, thanks to crappy Portuguese refs (the worst in the world IMO)

No, Portugal doesn't have a "great" league compared to some others, but you're miserably wrong about the Portuguese league not being known for exporting players to other leagues....there are Portuguese players playing in every major league in Europe including Spain, Italy, France, England, and Germany....and not only are they playing in those leagues, but are also making an impact for their teams...Figo at Real Madrid, Rui Costa at AC Milan, Pauleta top scorer in France with Bordeaux, etc..etc....

You coudn´t be more right Luis. Jardel was never able to play well a single game for the national team and that´s why I think we´ll never see he plays for the national team again. He can scora 9478092750758075 goals in a season and it won´t change.

The guys you talked about are all from Portugal´s national team, what Im saying is that we export a lot of decent/good players that dont even play for our national team but end up in very good teams from spain/italy/england.

Of course Portugal has a fair number of good players and being part of the european comunity helps, but Brasil has twice the amount of teams and is bigger we do end up having more quality players, in terms of quantity. Thats all....

thats why Brasil has such a good national team to begging with, if one players gets injured we have other options

But back to Jardel, I remember when he played for Gremio and back then he wasnt the kind of player to cause trouble. So maybe he is screwed up in the head and needs a break from playing

You don't even have a clue what you're talking about, the majority of Portuguese players who play in other countries don't make our national team either! The one's I mentioned are just the famous one's...lots of other non-national team Portuguese players play in Spain, France, etc...just because you've never heard of them doesn't mean they don't exist

I also don't get what being part of the European Community has to do with producing players?

Here´s the new chapter of the soap opera...


A ex-mulher do atacante Jardel, Karen, deu entrevista à imprensa portuguesa nesta sexta-feira e falou sobre a separação com o jogador. Karen resolveu partir para o ataque e disse que Jardel queria uma mulher em casa e outra na rua. As informações são do site "A Bola", de Portugal.

Segundo o site Karen foi além e disse que a vida noturna de Jardel atrapalhou o casamento. Ela teria dito que o jogador nunca esteve internado e não descartou a possibilidade de uma reconciliação.

Lots ok I agree, but on the top teams there are fewer than brasilians. We have a lot more brasilian players in La liga than portuguese players.

And put your brain to use, its much easier for a portuguese player to play in another european country because of the paper work, they dont need a visa or anything like that. Making it cheaper for clubs to hire portuguese players, than say S.A players.
