The Wolf FM2005 Option File Update

Ok, after reading (or receiving) the 1,000th notification of stats disapproval with PES4 I've decided to undertake an ambitious project to overall all the stats in the default database for PES4.

Taking the database from Football Manager 2005 (the follow-up to Championship Manager 4) and converting it using Hex Editor to the CM4 database format so the database structure will be compatable with EditPES4OptionFile 0.6 and translate the values accordingly, I am going to change the stats of every player in PES4 to those of FM2005.

FM2005/CM4 is known to be the most accurate worldwide in terms of stats and looking at the attributed stats for many players as a comparison, it has a much more realistic overview of players in terms of correcting the over/under-rating of players than any other source.

Of course, there will be players that some may still consider over/under-rated but we'll have to live with that as it's objective and down to personal opinion. The key thing is that we have a more accurate stats database than the one we have as default in PES4.

If we are adding players to the squads in the game anyway using the FM2005/CM4 stats, it makes sense to have every player allign by having the same source for the stats. My eventual objective is to have every club/national player updated and all new players added to the game have stats from these databases. When I am finished I will release the option file along with EditPES4OptionFile with the database included so people can make their own amendments in future. All players in the game will be linked to the database via the editor so it will be easy to make transfers etc.

I'd say this is going to take about two weeks for the first version to be released and to incorporate squad updates/transfers etc. and then an update will be released after the January transfer window closes.

What do people think about getting rid of retired/classic players in the shop and replacing them with real players who just don't happen to be at any of the clubs included in the game?

Also, what about getting rid of the Classic Teams and replacing them with real missing national teams?

I would like to make the Masters League as realistic as possible not play against Liverpool and find they've signed Pele and Maradona!!!

If you were to replace Pele, wouldn't the player still have Pele's development line?

Lol Liverpool with Pele...

I think it is a great idea...
For the 6 classic teams, i agree too... maybe club missing teams would be better, but some national teams are missing too...

IMO, they could be:
Clubs: Santos, Shaktar, CSKA, Basel, Montpellier, Dnipro
National: New Zealand, Uzbekistan, Latvia, Canada, Ivory Coast, Venezuela

Debating about changing the default ML players with real players on real team squads on the 'B' teams. Again, I just hate playing the Masters League knowing that there are all these BS players floating around who aren't real.

Does anybody actually know whether if you keep the Classic Teams locked and the Classic players in the PES Shop locked whether the players still appear i nthe Masters League or not?

One thing I've noticed so far from changing the stats to the FM2005/CM4 database is that there are far less superstars in the game. For instance, Nedved has high stats and rightly so and there is now a bigger difference between him now and some of the players in the game who had high stats before but have now dropped down a bit so havign Nedved in your squad would make a difference whereas before he wasn't that much better than some otherwise mediocre players.

I think there's definitely a tendency is PES 4 to overate the majority of players except for exceptional players who they tend to underate.

I thought that any changes made to stats didn't apply to ML. Aren't those stats found in the pes4.exe, just like the ones for online play?

I do like the idea, though. Keep up the great work, Wolf!

Great idea wolf... I have a couple of questions:

- Can the players' potential ability (development graph) also be updated from FM stats?

- What about special ability? are you gonna keep them like they are?

WOLF .. i like ur idea of getting rid of those classic/retired player and those classic team... can u work on it first and give us a release on that before u rework the whole PES4 player stats ? because stats rework gonna takes significantly more times... and i cant wait for the release without those classic team and player...

i restart my ML after i play one season because all those classic superstar reborn as youngster at my second season... then i open the option file and lock PEShop back and starting a new season... dunno whether they will reappear at 2nd season again or not.. hope no =(

i think the best to replace classic teams are continental teams:

Europe, Asia, Africa, South America, North America/Caribbean and World

it's better than replacing with teams that noone will ever play...
