Not really, all he said was that for Chelsea there aren't as big rivalies as United - Liverpool or Real - Barca. I might as well say that Chelsea doesn't have as big rivalies as Hammarby and AIK in Sweden or Real - Barca, doesn't mean I'm saying that globally Hammarby vs AIK are comparable to El Clasico. Or are all other classic matches too unworthy to be even mentioned in the same post as Real vs Barca? :D

Besides, even if he would have compared them, he would have had the right to do so. I mean if United play Liverpool, Celtic play Rangers or Boca plays River plate, for the fans of those clubs, especially for the locals, nothing compares to THAT rivaly. Only thing that makes Barca - Real bigger is the commercial aspect, which makes it a bigger global spectacle than any other derby/rivaly in the world. Can't really say that historically or emotionally a rivaly in the lower leagues of Germany is less of a rivaly. It's a subjective matter...
:nape: Again, United vs Liverpool do not belong with those other rivalries. Madrid - Barcelona is fueled by a long and bitter cultural and political history between nationalist Madrid and Catalunya.

Help?

Right, the only rivalry that compares to it is Celtic vs Rangers, we get it. But all those rivalries are still all bigger than whatever Chelsea have and since we were talking about United, hence the mention. I don't think he was actually saying that United vs Liverpool is of same magnitude as Barcelona vs Real.

Chelsea - Arsenal?

Not as much. Even Arsenal-Tottenham rivalry is stronger.

I'm not talking about teams, just the papers and public in general. We had Jose for a while(a manager people love to hate), then Ashley Cole came in with a rep he had off-field(popstar wife etc).

The whole JT fiasco recently and let's not forget that we have Roman, allowing us to spend a whole lot during his early years, and recently of course.

Usually our players are the ones booed in England matches. Take Frank Lampard, he's done nothing wrong but the only reason I can think of is him being a Chelsea player. That says it all really.

Our rivalry is probably the most intense with Liverpool(Arsenal and Spuds follow), for a number of reasons of course, being recently. We beat them to the CL spot in 03, pushed them out of the top 3, Roman came in subsequently and we've never been out of the top 3 and CL since.

You do have a good point talking about JT, Cashley and the Abramovic takeover. I don't think Chelsea is hated because of Lampard though. Thats probably just a minority. I have the impression he is well respected in general but I could be wrong.

I think these are still not enough to make your team "the most hated" though. I think most of hate a team can get is from rivalry.

As with Chelsea, all these boos are probably directed to individual players. Not Chelsea as a team.

I agree and thats since Liverpool became a EUROPA team. The United-Liverpool rivalry is no longer as hot as it used to be 10 years ago.

I'd have to disagree with yer on that. I don't believe rivalries are necessarily the requirement to generate hatred towards a certain team.

You mentioned just now that the boos are directed towards individual players, but when you have all those booed players in one team, it's safe to assume that the team would likely be booed most of the time in almost every match.

As for Lamps, the general feeling that I get is that he is constantly booed and disliked because the English public feel that he's not performing on the same level for club and country, whereas the same can be said for a lot of other players, he's usually made a scapegoat.

Surely they can't blame the well beloved Steven "DJ Basher" and "I hate divers" Gerrard can they?

Seeing that we've gone OT, I'll leave it at that.

Back to the hate thing.

When it comes to comments I'm reading from the public and journalists, whether online or from the papers, the general view that I see is that Chelsea is the most hated of all English clubs across the globe.

We don't have as many fans as Arsenal, Liverpool or Utd and I don't think the fans of those clubs see us in a good light as we crashed their top 3 party a couple of seasons ago.

So combine all of them with Spurs, Barca, Fulham, and QPR you'd probably have a lot of fans who dislike Chelsea.

You can also add that fans of our club is always being accused as having glory-hunters most of the time, even if you get that with almost every team that's winning trophies.

City just came more recently, so they'll probably have to wait until they win the Premiership.

Yes, that makes a massive difference for the local fans of both teams who actually know the history, know who was Franco and what does CNT stand for etc etc. I was talking about why it is so big for rest of the world. Should Barca and Real get relegated, it would still be the biggest rivaly for most of the Spain, but rest of the world wouldn't give half as much **** about it as now when they're some of the best teams in the world.

As Nady said, the Pool - United rivaly isn't as big globally now, and much of it is to do with the fact that Pool is ****, for scoursers and United fans it's still big.

No one here is trying to discredit El Clasico or compare it to any other match-up as Arnau thought.

Who the bloody **** cares which club is hated the most?

It's just a bloody **** discussion. You'd rather have more pages of Utd fans moaning about having to face Barca and their player's antics in the final?

I'd rather not have any ManU or Barca talk because it's generally completely retarded and/or whiny.

But trying to make yor club seem like the most hated is just such a ridiculous thing to do.

**** Barca and **** ManU. Huntelaar to score against his old club in the final, please.

Even if Madrid or Barcelona get relegated the rivalry will keep intact. Barça-Madrid its not 90 minutes match its playing all the season never stops.

anyone read anything about a sexshop???
barca madrid has aloot of history to it, i'd say granting it as a much bigger derby. i'd say the only bigger derbies would be something like boca juniors and river plate where kids are still throwing plastic bags full of piss at away fans, now thats passion...(or plain disrespectful, take it anyway you like).

poet11

Oh and tits.
LOL don't know if thats passion or disrespect but they must be really frustrated people who got nothing better to do.

Manchester United have beaten Chelsea and a bunch of little nothing teams. Barcelona have ALREADY had to beat Real Madrid and Arsenal.

Without their usual luck-of-the-draw, Manchester United would not be anywhere near the 2011 Champions League final. They have not been very convincing, especially in comparison to Barcelona.

Sorry, but that's the truth and you know it.

So UEFA giving Barcelona a group stage against nothing teams is a luck-of-the-draw? If you ask me, Barca coasted to the final.

As I said before, whatever Platini and Blatter want, Platini and Blatter get.

Ok bro I got a curious question and confusion. I am very sure theres some serious tinkering in the CL. Infact, the whole world of football mainly the big european countries and the teams. I am not that sure about my 2nd statement but my question is what would those whores get in return of a team winning the CL and all that??? ( CAUTION IM NOT POINTING OUT TO ANY TEAM AT ALL )

Let's just say, and I'm sure this has been said by Americans on this forum, Americans see the UCL as the European version of the NBA playoffs. Only the top dogs get to the championship with a little help.

Yep but my confusion is what do Bladder and Platipus get in return? Like money(of course) and votes for Presidency and all that?
