I'm planning on buying a PS4 towards the end of this year, hopefully they'll be cheaper by then, or at least have some sort of bundle that makes it cheaper.

I got a ps4 on release and it's not really worth it, there's barely any games for it. FIFA and NBA2k are way way better than their ps3 counterparts though.

I should have sold it for a profit when people had to wait months for the next shipments

This is a stupid discussion, playing on a controller is more fun and intuitive for all games, and that's the only thing that matters.

No it's not. It certainly is for sports games, but i find keyboard and mouse much much more intuitive for shooters. Mouse you point to where you want to aim and shoot. Controller you're trying to hold a stick at the right angle.

Anyone who has played any amount of first person shooters on both console and PC would agree.

And more social

Why is it more social? Are you suggesting console gamers generally pay multiplayer split screen? When you're talking about shooting games (and we are) this is the minority.

I agree with this, I played the early Call of Duty and Medal of Honor games on my PC, and I found it more enjoyable than playing them on a console.

It should be remembered that most PC gamers play quite a bit on consoles where as the opposite isn't true.

Based purely on logic you would assume the people who spend more time using each system would have the best idea of what works best.

And it's no coincidence that PC gamers use K/M for shooting games, controllers for sport games etc

I've played both and I find controllers much more comfortable than keyboard. If it were the other way around, a mouse-equivalent would exist for at least one videogame console. There are more controllers for computers than keyboards/mice (ha) for consoles. And I'm certain developers have done studies on what gamers prefer.

It's definitely easier to play with your mouse, but I don't think that's what a gamer wants. Everyone can do headshots with a mouse, it's a lot harder and funnier with a controller, it requires practice. Or am I missing the point here?

What a ridiculous argument that is.

There are more peripherals for PCs full stop. And a keyboard and mouse to play a shooting game wouldn't make sense to the average console gamer. They see a game, they assume controller. Doesn't mean it's right. The other issue is that it's only really superior for shooters and RTS games. People wouldn't pay for a keyboard and mouse just for those games. The people aware of that control method's superiority generally play their shooting games on PC anyway.

Developers are all about marketing, not necessarily what works. It's purely a marketing decision, they're after sales, not after making things easier for gamers. That fact that most console games use aim assist is enough to prove the point in my eyes.

As you mentioned, there are LOADS of controllers available for PC, and most gamers have one. But what do they all use to play their FPS on PC? K/M by a large margin.

I like controllers more. The way the Wii did shooting games was my favorite.

Yeah, I was actually going to suggest that the Wii is possibly the only control method more intuitive for FPS than K/M

Aren't FPSs the most popular, most played game type? Surely if keyboard/mouse was better or preferable, there'd be at least one hardcore gamer using it with their system. Is there? I've never seen such a thing.

The issue is console games aren't made with easily customisable controls in games. They're set.

Nearly every PC game let's you customise your controls. Obviously of you're using something that isn't standard this means that it may not be configured properly.

Consoles are made to not think about. You plug it in to the tv, turn it on, and play. If they add customisations etc it makes them less universal.

Az, the fact is that 99% of PC gamers use keyboard mouse. A vast majority of them have a controller that they use for other games (racing, sport etc). They choose not to use it for FPS.

And I'm not sure that FPSs are the most popular game type on consoles (though they may be). I'd suggest sport sims, racing games and 3rd person shooters would be right up there.

Yeah, I really don't care. I prefer controllers, whoever it was you were arguing with (Mus I think, too lazy to scroll up) prefers them, too. You prefer keyboard. Different strokes.
