Today Leo Beenhakker will tell us which players he will take on friendly match against Danmark (16 August). He saw only 3 games of polish Orange Ekstraklasa and I'm sure we can expect some surprises. :)

Bad news is that Sobolewski has injury, and we don't know whether he will play. Before the match we will play 4 sparrings, 2 per day.

Match is planned on 20.00 PM in Odense.

We have lost with Denmark 2:0 :nape: They scored really luckily goal and after first half we were losing 1:0. When the second half started, we were playing much better. Our team passes more precisely, created situations to score goals but we did not use them. Then we made only one mistake and lost another goal :(

Goals: Bendtner (33 min.), Rommedahl (63 min.).

Beenhakker backs Bełchatów pair

Łukasz Garguła and Radosław Matusiak are the debutants in Poland coach Leo Beenhakker's squad for the UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifiers against Finland on 2 September, and against Serbia four days later.

Bełchatów pairing
The GKS Bełchatów strikers have been rewarded after combining to score five goals in the Ekstraklasa leaders' opening four games of the season, all victories. Southampton FC forward Grzegorz Rasiak misses out but another England-based attacker Tomasz Frankowski, still to see action with Wolverhampton Wanderers FC this term, has been selected. Wisła Kraków have the largest presence in the squad while champions Legia Warszawa have been overlooked completely.

Poland squad
Goalkeepers: Jerzy Dudek (Liverpool FC), Wojciech Kowalewski (FC Spartak Moskva), Artur Boruc (Celtic FC).

Defenders: Michał Żewłakow (Olympiacos CFP), Mariusz Jop (FC Moskva), Jacek Bąk (Al Rayyan), Paweł Golański (Korona Kielce), Arkadiusz Głowacki (Wisła Kraków), Marcin Wasilewski (Lech Poznan).

Midfielders: Radosław Sobolewski (Wisła Kraków), Mariusz Lewandowski (FC Shakhtar Donetsk), Mirosław Szymkowiak (Trabzonspor), Arkadiusz Radomski (FK Austria Wien), Sebastian Mila (FK Austria Wien), Euzebiusz Smolarek (BV Borussia Dortmund), Jacek Krzynówek (VfL Wolfsburg), Jakub Błaszczykowski (Wisła Kraków), Łukasz Garguła (GKS Bełchatów).

Forwards: Tomasz Frankowski (Wolverhampton Wanderers FC), Maciej Żurawski (Celtic FC), Ireneusz Jeleń (AJ Auxerre), Radosław Matusiak (GKS Bełchatów).

What the hell he's doing?! How come he's calling Frankowski which did not score a goal since almost a year. Where is Rasiak which has got good form and scores goals for his club every time he's play?

Althought I see some positives like young, promising players called on matches against Finland and Serbia.

So we've lost against Finland and drawn to Serbia.... at home..... Do we still have a chance of qualifying before we might host EURO 2012 with Ukraine? :(

Yea, we really got you good. Before the game the coach said the team was aiming for a tie... I really didn't like the sound of that, but when they won with 2 goal by the Finnish football god Litmanen  , I was satisfied. It wasn't an easy game though. You weren't bad.

Team Captain
I've read Michael Delura wants to play for Poland. He's made some appearences in the German U20 but has no realistic chance to be called up to the U21 or even the senior team.

Sebastian Tyrala, Dortmund, follows the example of Trochowski, Brzenska, Sinkiewicz and Polanski and will play for the German youth team.

If everyone who's Polish or though in half would like to play for Poland we would have one of the strongest teams in the world. Unfortunately in past many players moved from Poland to the other countries. Also now players which are abroad prefer play for "strongest" teams.

Summing up, all who's Polish but doesn't play for Poland can go and **** themselves.

Frankfurt will be the Poles’ base
The training camp of the national team before the EC elimination match against Kazakhstan will last from Monday until Thursday. Leo Beenhakker’s players will get ready near Frankfurt am Main.

The match against Kazakhstan will be played on October 7th in Almaty. Four days later the Poles will play against Portugal in Chorzów - for this match they will also prepare in Frankfurt. Both matches will be practically the last chance for the Polish players, who after the two elimination matches they played so far have merely one point.
The training camp will begin on Monday in a town called Muehlheim-Lammerspiel located about 35 km from Frankfurt am Mein. The players from Polish clubs will fly out from Warsaw at around 10:30. The rest will come directly to the preparation base. On the same day at 17:00 they will participate in the first training session.

So far I haven’t heard about any player signaling he will be late, therefore all of the representatives should be at the first training session - Kazimierz Oleszek, the national team’s spokesperson, said.

On Tuesday and Wednesday the players will train twice - at 10:00 and 17:00. On Thursday a light workout is planned and then Leo Beenhakker’s players will take the 13:20 flight from Frankfurt to the capital of Kazakhstan. The representatives will arrive In Almaty practically after midnight, with the time difference being four hours.

A workout is planned at 11:00 (local time) on Friday. At 19:00 the Poles will carry out an official training session on the stadium in Almaty, where a day later they will play against Kazakhstan.

After the match the Polish players will get on a 3:20 flight to Frankfurt where they will further prepare for Wednesday’s match against Portugal in Chorzów. They are expected in Germany at 6:00.

EC 2008 Qualifications: Poland - Portugal 2:1
Euzebiusz Smolarek scored both of Poland's goals as they defeated Portugal 2-1 in Chorzow to leapfrog their opponents into fourth place in UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifying Group A.

The hosts fully deserved a victory which they earned thanks to a blistering start from Smolarek, the BV Borussia Dortmund forward striking twice inside the opening 18 minutes. A Nuno Gomes goal in added time was not enough to prevent Portugal's first defeat in their bid to qualify for the tournament in Austria and Switzerland and they now lie six points behind the leaders Serbia in fifth place, albeit with a game in hand.
Poland coach Leo Beenhakker named the same starting XI which beat Kazakhstan at the weekend, while Luiz Felipe Scolari only made one change to the Portugal team that confidently brushed aside Azerbaijan, Maniche dropping to the bench in favour of Petit. But it was the hosts who came out of the blocks faster, dominating the opening exchanges and enjoying the majority of the possession.

So it was no surprise when they broke the deadlock after only nine minutes. Smolarek picked up the ball on the edge of the penalty area and calmly placed his effort past the diving Ricardo and into the back of the net. The goal seemed to stun the visitors, but worse was to come nine minutes later as Poland doubled their advantage - Smolarek dispatching his second following a perfect cross from the lively Grzegorz Rasiak.

Portugal pushed in search of a reponse before the break, only for their efforts to end in frustration as Poland stood firm defensively. The home side looked the more likely scorers after the restart and Smolarek was unlucky not to claim a hat-trick after Ricardo turned his shot wide. Portugal's possession increased as time ticked by, but Nuno Gomes's conversion of Simão's centre was no consolation.
