Well our top guns in the squad has got to be Phil Younghusband . He has one multiple golden boot awards of various tournaments the azkals have joined . Another top gun will be his brother James and Chieffy Caligdong . There Both good at handling the ball and they"re also the top playmakers of the country.
Well I"ve been seeing some potential on Omphroy . He gots some good dribbling skills and a very awesome flick ! Also Porteria . He has strength , speed and some good football skills so the two of them might just be the future of this team i hope so .

Well i think thats good enough . There some upcoming friendlies for the azkals they will be going against Bahrain and Kuwait

Well just a little bit info about some of our players

Angel Guirado and Juanny Guirado

Well Angel is a striker while juanny is defender . Angel actually played with some of the best then he got to played with ozil once he also played for a team in spanish league divison 3 . Angel has height , strenght and flexibility angel for me is one of the best strikers we have actually he has the fineese the heading and has good ball handling scored a wonderful curved once against guam about a few months ago where we beated guam 3-0 . Juanny same to angel played for a team in spain also . A wonderful defender got some real good tactical awareness but commits mistakes occasionally but overall good player well currently angel plays in a indian club while for juanny god know where his playing

Reichelt young, talented, fast and well trained thats what describes him his very young just 20 years of age his well trained of course grew up on germany and well learned soccer there he has some good skills his hardworking and very skilled since his trained abroad well i am sure he ll be a better as time passes by

Well overall the azkals have a strong team they have the talent but just lacks that reall spark . Like they need a messi version of azkals they need a superstar to lead them so i hope one day one filipino will become the messi of the azkals closes we got is schrock . Areola is close too but still havent decided wheter his joining or not

Well The Azkals reached its highest standing in the global football ladder, according to the latest FIFA world rankings released Wednesday.
From 150th, the Azkals climbed to 147th to rank 21st among Asian countries and enjoy their highest all-time ranking since occupying the 148th spot last April, which came after finishing third place in the Asian Football Confederation Challenge Cup in Nepal. The country suffered its lowest ranking at 195th in September 2006.
The Azkals had a busy month, starting with a three-match Southeast Asian tour where they held Cambodia to a scoreless draw last September 5, scored a 2-0 victory against Singapore last September 7, and yielded a 2-1 loss to Laos last September 10.
However, FIFA later nullified the Azkals’ loss to Laos after learning that the referees were not recognized by the world football body. The match turned ugly midway in the second half after a melee broke out between players from the Azkals and Laos.
The organization also withdrew consideration the Filipinos’ match against Cambodia after it discovered that the Cambodians exceeded the limit of six substitutes, a requirement for FIFA-sanctioned matches.

The Azkals, however, remain third in Southeast Asia behind Thailand (139th) and Vietnam (140th) – two teams they will face in the group stages of the 2012 ASEAN Football Federation Suzuki Cup in November.

Aside from the Philippines, eight other countries enjoyed their highest ranking, namely Algeria (24th, up 4), Mali (27th, up 5), Cape Verde Islands (51st, up 14), Haiti (60th, up 17), Dominican Republic (102nd, up 1), Aruba (154th, up 4), Guam (178th, up 7) and Montserrat (181st, up 25).

Reigning World Cup champion Spain continues its tight grip of the top spot, followed by Germany, Portugal, Argentina and England in the top five. Colombia (9th), which gained the biggest amount of points in the past month, and Greece (10th) also barged their way into the world’s top ten.
Meanwhile, Japan (23rd) remains the best team in the Asia zone, followed by South Korea (25th), Australia (34th), Iran (58th) and Uzbekistan (70th).

Well in other news The Younghusband brothers who were not called up in the 1st Philippine Football Peace Cup won by the Azkals will be recalled in the team’s upcoming Middle East camp. The Azkals are in their final preparation for the AFF Suzuki Cup by holding a camp in Bahrain next week highlighted by friendlies against the Bahraini national team on Oct. 12 and powerhouse Kuwait on Oct. 16.

A little info about the teams the azkals are going to be fighting

Bahrain

The Bahrain national football team (Arabic: منتخب البحرين لكرة القدم‎) is the national team of the Kingdom of Bahrain and is controlled by the Bahrain Football Association; it was founded in 1951 and joined FIFA in 1966. They have never reached the finals of the World Cup, but have twice come within one match of doing so. Bahrain won the FIFA's most improved team award in 2004, and finished fourth in the 2004 Asian Cup, beating Uzbekistan in the quarter-finals but losing to Japan in the semi-finals 4–3. Bahrain then lost to Iran in the third-place match, thus finishing in fourth place overall. The detention without trial of Shia members of the current team in the wake of the 2011 pro-democracy reform protests has had political as well as sporting repercussions. Well they ranked 115 currently

Kuwait

The Kuwait National Football Team is the national team of Kuwait and is controlled by the Kuwait Football Association. They made one World Cup Finals appearance, in 1982, managing a draw with Czechoslovakia but losing to England and France. During the match against France, France scored a goal while some of the Kuwaiti players had stopped, having heard a whistle. The goal was initially awarded by the referee, who had not blown, but Kuwait walked off the pitch in protest. They eventually resumed playing only after the intervention of Sheikh Fahad Al Ahmed and the referee's changing his mind to disallow the French goal.
They had better success contending for the Asian Cup, reaching the finals in 1976 and taking home the winner's trophy in 1980.
Kuwait's 20–0 win over Bhutan in 2000 was at the time the biggest ever win in international football. It was surpassed in 2001, when Australia beat Tonga 22–0. Also in 2000, Kuwait took part at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.
Kuwait, who last qualified for the FIFA World Cup in 1982, were drawn with Korea Republic, United Arab Emirates, and Lebanon in the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualification.

What are we going to expect in the Middle East friendlies? Here's a guide:
Mix It Up. Coach Weiss enjoyed the performance of his new recruits in Matthew Uy, Demet Omphroy, and the emergence of Denis Wolf as the Azkals' main striker in the Peace Cup. This time, he will test the chemistry of the team by merging his mainstays in Angel Guirado, James and Phil, Ray Jonsson, Dennis Cagara, Jerry Lucena among others.

Will the team blend in this short span of time? I think coach Weiss has something up his sleeve that will surprise Mid East contenders in Bahrain and Kuwait. This is a scheduled FIFA friendly and we expect Bahrain and Kuwait will make it hard for the team but the Azkals are gearing up and I anticipate a battle in the Gulf.

Azkals Confidence. The Philippine Azkals are enjoying its strongest performance in years in FIFA standing by ranking 147 in its latest card. However, Kuwait (rank 112) and Bahrain (rank 115) are way above us. Their rankings show how competitive these teams are.

If I can recall, Kuwait eliminated us in the second round of the World Cup qualifying last year ending our hopes of progressing for a better finish. This time, they will be facing a different Azkals line up that has matured through time and played with much intensity in its previous games.

Do we see some upsets in the making? Yes. The team has evolved and definitely our opponents are wary with the way the rising Azkals are playing. Two quality victories will surely catapult our ranking further.

Old Reliable. Chieffy Caligdong will play a vital role in these matches, as he will act as the team's ultimate leader, the glue the binds the squad to perform better. The team will look for his field guidance and leadership.

As team captain, he will be coach Weiss' voice in the pitch. Chieffy will definitely live up to expectation and much more. His mere presence commands respect and this should be the way the team should play: with pride for the glory of the Philippines.

Soccer in the Philippines

Soccer is an established sport throughout much of Asia, with nations such as South Korea and Japan taking huge strides on the international stage. But in the Philippines, soccer remains a marginalized sport. The nation's colonial past has seen other sports rise in popularity at the expense of "the Beautiful Game."

History

In the late 1800s and early 1900s, soccer was spreading rapidly across the globe. The founding of FIFA in 1904 further facilitated the sport's international reach. Soccer spread to the Philippines during this period, but the nation was in the midst of a power struggle. In 1898, the country's previous colonial rulers, the soccer-playing Spanish, had ceded the territory to the United States. The North Americans quickly introduced their own set of sports into the Philippines, stunting the growth of soccer.

Popularity

The United States controlled the Philippines until the end of World War II, when the nation attained its independence. The period of American rule was long enough to see basketball established as the dominant sport in the Philippines. According to the FIFA, commercial sponsors and the government largely ignored soccer, and the sport languished in basketball's shadow throughout the 20th century. As of 2011, basketball remains the most popular sport in the Philippines.
Domestic and International Soccer

The Philippine Football Federation was founded in 1907 and affiliated with FIFA in 1930. But the governing body has struggled to raise soccer's profile. The federation announced the formation of the Filipino Premier League in 2008, but the new domestic league was discontinued after one season. The Philippine national side has failed to make an impact on the world stage, never having qualified for a World Cup competition. As of April 2011, the national team had a FIFA world ranking of 155, lodged between Lichtenstein and Fiji.

The Future

In 2003, FIFA launched its Goal program in the Philippines. Working alongside the Philippine Football Federation, FIFA hoped to raise soccer's profile and aid the development of grass roots soccer. In 2007, the FIFA Goal Bureau approved financial backing for the construction of a three-story building to serve as the new headquarters for the Philippine Football Federation. Further FIFA funding went toward the development of youth soccer programs, women's soccer and the technical development of referees. In 2009, FIFA said local youngsters had begun to rediscover the delights of soccer. But at the same time, FIFA acknowledged that soccer has a long way to go before it can become the country's leading sport.

Full Time Final score 0-0

A wonderful matched played by the azkals yesterday after generating a great result with Bahrain . The Philippines played well considering they did not play defensive football they came there and played real football and they missed some of the azkals top guns like Younghusband Brothers , Etheridge,Guirado and Stephan Shcrock , The azkals made lots of opportunities specially when i think cagara made a wonderful throughball to wolf on a 1v1 situation just 15 minutes in the game luckily for bahrain the ball hit the toe of the keeper , another open shot was also wasted when bahadoran made a wonderful pass to wolf but wolf tripped due to the pitch condition , While on the 87 min. a heartbraking but wonderful stop by the keeper of bahrain was made when bahadoran overlapped and then made a quick pass to porteria , porteria tries the low ball but it lacked the power . While on the bahrain side they had a i think only 1 good attempt at goal when one of there mids curled a beautiful shot that forced muller to do a acrobatic save . There passing was wonderful they just relaxed too much . Overall i think the draw was a fair score for each team but if the Philippines just improved there finishing it would have been a 2-0 win considering the only shot on target by bahrain was quiet an easy save for muller . The match is a great statement to the other teams in south - east asia specially cause the last south-east asian team bahrain fought was indonesia last february which ended in a 10-0 win for bahrain and even fifa had to investigate due to the high score .

Next game will be against kuwait i hope they force another good result specially that the younghusband brothers and guirado will be there .

Well just watched the matched between Tampine Rovers vs Loyola Meralco Sparks final score 2-0 Loyola lost . Well just a quick info Loyola is pretty much the fan favorite here in my country cause the younghusband brothers are there thats how most of the people here in my country choose who to support they either choose the team with lots of handsome players or the team that they are working for cause the teams here are not by city its companies . Well back to the game the game was very sloppy for both teams it was a very fast paced game , lots of cards given , red card was given for both teams. The tampine rovers did well in passing but they have to learn how to be patient they had too many offsides whiel for the sparks well they need to improve in everything i mean there players are good individually but they need to work more as a team anyways i am sure there gonna get revenge on the second leg

PS Tampine Rovers are a singaporean team
