Italian Serie A Thread
[2006-2007]

Serie A is the top division of the Italian Football League, the highest football league in Italy. Italian mobile phone company TIM is the main sponsor, so the official name is Serie A TIM.

The division consists of twenty clubs since the 2004-05 season, with each team competing against each other team twice, round-robin style, for a total of 38 matches per season. The bottom three clubs in the league table are relegated to Serie B.

Serie A, as it is structured today, began in 1929. From 1898 to 1929 the competition was organised into regional groups. No title was awarded in 1927 after Torino were stripped of the championship by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC). Torino were declared champions in the 1948-49 season following a plane crash near the end of the season in which the entire team was killed.

The Serie A Championship title is often referred to as the Scudetto (small shield) because the winning team will bear a small coat of arms with the Italian tricolour on their strip in the following season. The most successful league club is Juventus F.C. with 27 championships, followed by A.C. Milan (17), Internazionale Milano (14) and Genoa C&FC (9). For every ten titles won, clubs are allowed to wear a golden star above their club badge; so Juventus has two stars, while Milan and Internazionale have one star each.

The last winners of the Serie A are Internazionale Milano, with the title handed to them after the Calciopoli Scandal.

Vieri quits Samp

Christian Vieri has quit Sampdoria just one month after signing for the club.

The Italian striker agreed to join Sampdoria in July following an injury-hit six-month spell at Monaco, but he has now had a change of heart.

According to a statement on the club's website the decision to part ways with Vieri came after a "serene" meeting between the player and Sampdoria's chief executive Giuseppe Marotta, who agreed that "the conditions no longer existed" to continue their relationship.

No further details were given, but Vieri is believed to be mulling over his future in the game.

The 33-year-old underwent knee surgery this summer in a bid to correct the injury which kept him out of Italy's World Cup squad.

Honestly, I was happy to hear the Bobo was back in Italy. He may be washed up but he still has given a lot to the Italian game. I thought that if he could stay healthy he could give a real boost to Samp. Now he's linked with Juve apparently...

What Serie B? P.S. There are rumours that Christan Vieri is to jin either Juvents or Torino. The reason given by Sampdoria for having vieri quit the contract is that they could afford to pay him while he was injured.

Why did the Seria B thread get deleted?

Because you wanted to be a dick and make fun of Juve. + You wrote seria B instead of serie B and no details at all, only the list of the teams.

No need for a B thread.

Don't start a thread for Serie B just because Juventus are there.

Horatiu, acting in accordance with your sig, eh? (N)

Anyway, Inter to win it. Finally

Forza Suarez! (ps brotha can you spare a dime?)
Milan to win it, Inter will choke on the last matchday and come in 3rd place like they always do. Atalanta will be the surprise team and have a great season until they get relegated in the 07/08 season. Positions 7-12 were the hardest to decide, you can put those teams in any order. The Serie A will be crap without Juve though, but seeing Inter throw away the scudetto is going to be plenty of fun. Torino will come dead last with 0 points, and those bastards deserve it that way.

Enjoy your sweet advantage on your concurrents, one starting in Serie B, one at -19 and one at -8, sure this will be the scudetto of honesty won on the field. Don't forget to thank your former board member Guido Rossi for the headstart. You even get to wear a scudetto badge you got handed on a paper in a court of law. Losers, you make me vomit.

Yeahm you must be bulimic from all the vomiting you induce.

OK, first of all, let me just say it wasn't inter's fault Milan and Juve cheated. Secondly, its not our fault we got the advantage, it just happend.

All of you people's hate of Inter is disguisting... now THATS what is pathetic.

the thing with roma is that i don't see them making any quality summer signings.
although they could have a great team spirit and such they are still thin in many areas.
