The FM longevity challenge debate

Is there ever going to be a FM version which makes it challenging once you build a dynasty? For example in my Cesena game, and in Shifty's Fiorentina game, once we became super powers and won the Champions league there was no way we would ever go through droughts of not winning the league/going far in Europe. Sure there's a chance you get knocked out of the CL but year-after-year you would most likely make it far.

A real life example would be when Chelsea won their first domestic title with Mourinho... if this happened in FM they would be winning the league every year etc...

I think it would be cool if you were still challenged at that point. In real life world class teams like Barca, Real, Man Utd always face a massive struggle to remain top team, in FM it isn't as big of a challenge.

Most likely we need to wait for AI development where they make better squad building decisions. Thoughts?

That'd be pretty awesome. I don't think the AI has any squad development strategy other than 'spend X amount on whatever youth', 'buy player for worst position', the end. Having a long-term strategy would make the game much better, and would result in more teams emerging and better decisions being made by the AI in general.

I'd love to test it out if there was such a thing added in the engine. In my journeyman save, when I finally won the CL with Lecce, I ended up winning it again the next year with Atletico. Then the year after I was undefeated after like 20 games and I lost interest.

I feel I rather be challenged than win everything constantly... after a while winning everything bores me.

Yeah, the problem is that the AI can't build a squad. If this ever got fixed the game would be a lot better (and also a lot harder). It amazes me how often a team that plays a diamond will spend 25m on a winger. Or another world class striker when they play 4-2-3-1.

I also think the PA needs to be changed, but I have no idea how to do this. I don't think I should be able to max out every player's abilities; the truth is that only like 5% of professionals become as good as they can be.

Yeah the long term squad planning of the AI needs to be much better. About the PA, I think they've come up with the best possible scheme although it's true it isn't perfect. The thing they put in where they newgens get stats based on their country is also a cool idea although I can't say I've really noticed it.

I DEFINITELY noticed when I was at Athletic Bilbao. I got so many central midfielders and absolutely nothing else except for big ****ty forwards.

2nd and 3rd GK's too. So much money wasted
