1-0 - John Terry

After a corner, very nice goal.... This is actually looking not to be a very tight match after all:p

Yay, it's broadcasted here. :D
But it will never live up to yesterday's match. Incredible. :p

Chelsea will win easy though.

What a badly ****e game that was. Long balls from Chelsea, Newcastle having no ideas at all. Dont think that was a sending off though - how can it be if Shaun Wright Phillips to decides to run in the total opposite direction to where he's hit the ball. If he runs in a straight line and just goes for tha ball and he steps across him fair enough, but the defender stays out the direct line to the ball and still gets a red card. joke from steve bennent, rubbish ref. :nape:

Poor game. Just shows how poor Chelsea are though for not finishing us off earlier.

We created nothing, Chelsea were content to sit on the lead, boring really.

We wasted chances. Once again, winning ugly, but winning. With our standard lately, Ill take them however they come

Its universally granted that it was a bad decision, but was Elliot not the one who kicked joe cole in the back harshly before? Ref evening the score, perhaps? Though thats not how it should be done

Anyway, Del Horno by all accounts was crap once again. I have a feeling we will cut our losses and offload him, probably to madrid to replace Carlos in the summer. Can you imagine a backline of Cicihno--Ramos--Woodgate--DelHorno backline? Hah.

Boring but effective huh?.......and give the Toon defence some credit will ya?....they all worked their nuts off tonight. Shame the rest of the team didn't show as much commitment.

Ticcan do you play football? Have you never put the ball down one side of the player and nipped around the other side to collect it? The defender went with SWP then, he realised that he had been dummied and turned the other way. There wasn't much contact but there was contact. Obstruction does not mean using your entire body to block someone off. The use of an arm or even a hand is enough.

And wasn't that the same bloke that kicked Joe Cole in the back twice while he was on the floor? He got sent off for 2 yellow cards not a straight red. If he would have not kicked the **** out of Joe Cole earlier, that obstruction would have given him a yellow and he would have still been on the pitch. He only has himself to blame for the red. :)

Shearer's pretty pissed at SWP.

======================
Shearer: SWP is a diver

Alan Shearer hit out at Shaun Wright-Phillips and accused the Chelsea winger of diving as Newcastle crashed out of the FA Cup.

Wright-Phillips appeared to overreact to a challenge by Robbie Elliott which earned the Toon defender a second yellow card.

It soured Shearer's final game in the FA Cup as Chelsea won the quarter final 1-0 and booked a place in the last four.

Shearer said: 'It was a blatant dive. There was absolutely no contact and I thought that at the time. I have seen it again on a replay and it was definitely the case.'

The Newcastle skipper was booked for arguing with the decision in the last minute of normal time.

Newcastle's caretaker manager Glenn Roeder was also angry with Wright-Phillips and suggested the player's father Ian Wright would also not be happy.

Roeder said: 'My view is crystal clear. Wright-Phillips took the ball past Robbie Elliott, who immediately turned his body sideways to let him go. He is an experienced defender - but Wright-Phillips knows he has beaten him and he's on the ground.

'He made no attempt to run past him at all. I am disappointed with the young man - and I don't think his dad will be too pleased either.

'What disappoints me most is the contrast between two incidents in the game.

'Kieron Dyer was `scissored' in the corner but he gets up straightaway and he is not looking for a foul or a booking.

'Then we have the sending-off incident. They are at two ends on the spectrum of fair play.

'I am sure the other manager will have his opinion - but that is mine.'

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho refused to speak after the game.

Roeder added: 'For me you should just play the game of football. If you are fouled, go down. If you are not fouled, don't.'

The incident overshadowed Shearer's exit from the FA Cup. It was his last chance to win a trophy in the colours of his home town club because he will retire at the end of the season.

Roeder said: 'Alan set his heart on getting into the last four but conceding an early goal to the Premiership champions disappointed us.

'For Alan to lose the game 1-0 and not even have an opportunity to take them back for a replay at St James' Park has to be a disappointment.

'But he won't want any sympathy. Alan is not a sympathy man, just look at his career and look at his life.

'He will shake himself down, pick himself up and work hard towards his retirement before he comes back into the game in football management.

'I don't know whether that will be in one year's time or six or seven years but Alan can still win the FA Cup one day. Why not?

'When he comes back into management, I am sure it will only be at this club and this club has the capability to win it even though the last time they did it I was not born.'

John Terry scored the only goal of the game after five minutes and the Chelsea skipper was thrilled to record a win after defeat in the Premiership at Fulham on Sunday.

Terry said: 'It was important to get a good early start and we did that straight from the kick-off.

'We turned them around and squeezed them and that set the tone for the whole game.

'It's not about revenge for last year. The most important thing is that we are in the hat for the draw on Friday and we are pleased to bounce back after a very disappointing result at the weekend.'

shearer needs a hanky to blow his nose.

SWP plays the ball to the rightside of elliot, and proceeds to break around him to the left, a direction from which two defenders are closing. He was steaming at him at nearly full speed. Elliot left his right arm out. You can see the reaction in that gif that Wright Phillips has to protect himself. Had he not gone down, he wouldve been free in the right corner with the ball, because no defender had a hope of cutting him off.

so which is more likely 1. He dives to get a player sent off in the 90th minute or 2. He gets caught by a sneaky arm and sent off balance and tumbles despite being free.

Oh, and apparrently Del Horno is a diver too for jumping back from Parkers' legs, and falling backwards, sitting up. THROW THE BOOK AT HIM, I SAY TO THEE

Everyone is a f*cking critic these days watching Chelsea. Have you heard about anyone on the face of the planet being criticized for diving or rough play in months? Of course not. The scourge of simulation has been eradicated once and for all from the beautiful game

Screws of the world and those assorted sh*t peddeling bitches can wank me off. You'd have to be FCUKING BLIND not to see their agenda

Unfortunately, a club that is dominant will always get haters, man..people love seeing the 'big' teams lose and they'll pounce on anything that is the smallest of things.. (N)

We have good reasons to hate them.

For an FA Cup Quarter Final, the home fans didn't do much.
The players mercenaries (barring Terry, Lampard and maybe Gallas) who will leave Chelsea with no specific ties or fondness for it.
The fans that fill Stamford Bridge are merely observers.
When Chelsea win trophies, there are no London street parties or joyous celebrations.
Their buying policy makes the youth system redundant.
They spend more than they make. Chelsea may win trophies, but the club won't be around to enjoy it.

It's a soulless club. A soulless club in a country where clubs are built upon local passion and pride.

we have been playing pish recently, and the home support has been a problem all year. Not everyone can be newcastle fans

when most of your players are less than two years at the club, thats a pretty hasty observation, to say nothing of the three that have followed the manager

???
Except for the quarter million that lined the streets of Hammersmith and Fulham to watch the league title paraded
Their buying policy makes the youth system redundant.
is that reason to hate a club?

your first comment is a temporary reality that the club is attempting to reverse within the next 5 years. The second point I dont even get

Shindig, you are a hypocrite. Everything you said can be related to Newcastle. If it was Chelsea fans whinging like you after last night, everyone would be telling us to learn to lose with dignity. Why dont you do the same mate.

Newcastle were pish and thats the only reason you lost.

Shearer is a frustrated old man who wants to pin all his lifes failures on one little winger in one little incident. I've always backed Shearer but i have to agree with people now, he is a tosser of the highest degree. He should have retired ages ago. He's been a passenger for too long at Newcastle and he is one of the big reasons why that club has been so unsettled for years.

Lose with dignity? You know what I felt when we lost last night? **** all. That's not happened for a long time. Losing an FA Cup Quarter Final and not feeling a thing. Something's drastically wrong when that happens.

We were awful, I concede that. I never said we weren't. I'm merely stating the bland, inevitability that surrounds Chelsea.

It's the fact that they assume they can make Chelsea into a brand when they've recorded World Record losses. Going for an Asian market that Man Utd have already sewn up. A plan for 5 years? In 5 years, I'd be surprised if Chelsea haven't folded.

pede54

You dont mean surprised mate, you mean dissapointed, and if bland inevitability means that you win, then surely thats better than Newcastles bland inevitability that they are gonna lose. I think you would rather be bland and win than be bland and lose wouldn't you?......of course you would.

Sorry i didn't realise that no other club is allowed into Asia. I never realised that Man U owned the rights.

So what if we recorded record losses. That means nothing. Man U are more in debt than we are so are they due some stick over that?....I dont hear anything.

It sounds to me like you would rather Chelsea would have gone to the wall and faded into history rather than been saved from liquidation. I wouldn't wish that on any club. No, not even clubs that i dislike. Why are you so bitter about it. Newcastle have always had money to burn. They have never been a poor club. If success could be bought, Newcastle would have been the most successful club in England. Its not about how much you spend, its about everything else at the club from the chairman, to the manager and the players. Roman has injected life into Chelsea while Shepherd has slowly throttled Newcastle. He is the one you should be mad at, not Chelsea.
