I guess one other point about the quantitative system is that I don't think it would apply to the world's best players in the same way it does everyone else. It's a system designed to explain typical players in typical leagues in typical countries. It assumes that the best player on the best team in a given league can be described as being 3 standard deviations from the mean. I think when you're talking about the world's best, it's probably much more than 3 standard deviations. When talking about the world's best footballers or athletes, you're talking about statistical anomalies by definition. And I don't have a good way to handle that. So, for now I just take EAs word for it.
